So!
What are the traditional Bosniak hats? Is the fez? Or the fez and something else too?
One of you posted "pictures" of Bosniaks in the 1900's and many of them were wearing a fez I see.But I think some of them were also wearing something else.Cant remember what it is.

Everyone in Bosnia wore different types of turbans pretty much. And in Herzegovina they also had the varations of that montengrin and vlah s**t. Human Race 1872 Then when the modernization of Ottoman Empire started they said f**k the turban and made us all wear a fez. Here is some national costumes from each part of Bosnia. www.bosnafolk.com/sehara/nnosnje.phpmore pics of old bosnia here bihpatriots.wordpress.com/category/images/

my great-grand father wore a Fez.
From the pictures Ive seen of Bosniaks wearing the Fez,I think it looks good on them, especially the blood red colour of the fez contrasted with their pale skin.Very nice.
Although does seem kinda like a funny hat.
But guys,I dont understand that site.DOnt know Bosnian.
So basically Fez was among the traditional Bosniak hats???

Do u guys still have a fez? read my post. the turban came before the modern fez. doesnt mean nobody ever wore a turban and fez at the same time period. But in truth there is so many different styles and hats worn in just bosnia throughout the 500 years that it's insane to keep track of it. EVERY REGION HAD IT'S OWN STYLE AND DIFFERENCES modern fez

ok ok
soooooo.......the turban and the fez are "not ethnic Bosniak" hats, but were adopted by them during Ottoman rule thus becoming Bosniak hats too.......
and then.........the others varieties of hats are Bosniak hats??? Pre-Ottoman??

The fez and turban are/were the ethnic hat of the Bosniaks. Turbans weren't invented by Ottomans. Simmilar types of headwear existed in the Balkan before them. The fez didn't though.
The Serb, Bosnian Croat, Albanian and Greek styles were all influenced and changed by ottoman style. Alot. 500 years will do that.
And the Ottomans came in the 14th and 15th century. Before that people wore f**kin metal helmets and armor lmao

I'm intrested in knowing my gg-grandfathers ethnicity. His son wears a fez and two relatives say he is part Turkish(which I can only say means Ottoman descent since this was the 1800's).
So thats why I want to find out as much as I can about the fez and see what I can make out from it.

I dont know Ive always thought it was an Eastern thing. OK,so the fez is Ottoman thing, introduced or imposed onto the Bosniaks and then becoming part of the Bosniak headgear,BUT,the Bosniaks had their own headgear too which was a turban with regional differences,is it??? Also Gorstak,Jedna si jedina nasa domovina is your blog??? I've been looking through it.

Wasnt imposed..it was just the new fashion I guess lol the more "modern" look....it wasnt some brutal thing they had to force on someone before that there was a turban and that was ottoman influence too but what im syaing is the headgear before ottomans isn't something thats so clear...stuff from a 1000 years ago barely even counts as national dress today. most recognizable balkan ones of today developed later. and yea every region has differences if you go to that page bosnafolk you'll see some of them by region. read what it says if you read our language www.bosnafolk.com/sehara/nnosnje.phpso i really couldnt tell you how people dressed in 1000 AD in bosnia..probly alot like most peasants in southeastern europe. and your grandfathr was a bosniak probly since all muslims were called turks in the balkan then....or at least if not that hes part bosniak for sure. that blog is called Patriots of Bosnia ....bihpatriots.com...jedna si jedina is just a little headline thingy lol and nah its not mine
