I heard Ban Jelacic, had very good relations with Montenegro and considered them to be brotherly nations, does anybody have any more information on this and any co-operations between the two nations during Ban Jelacic's time.

My mother is from Slavonia Zvone............Serbs and Croats alike in the area love him. Dont forget he was from Vojvodina. PS. terror, I actually have Croatian cousins aswell as aunties and uncles. I also have Hungarian and German relatives. Slavonia was a very mixed area, unlike Montenegro which was fully Serb

Croatian
A sada njega crna zemlja krije, krije, I zelena trava prekrila mu grob.
Slava Radiæu, slava Basariceku, Slava svim hrvatskim velikanima. English
It was the year nine hundred and three, When trouble befell our Croatia. Hedervary raised the Hungarian flags Trying to forcefully Magyarize Croatia.
Rise, oh ban, Croatia calls you, calls you, Rise, ban Jelacic!
There isn't a hero, there isn't a Croat, Like Jelacic the ban was. And now the black earth covers him, covers him, And green grass covers his grave.
Glory to Radic, glory to Basaricek, Glory to all the great men of Croatia.

Hm, doesn't look like he was born in Vojvodina. U pravu si! On je rodjen u Austro - Ugarskoj monarhiji, u Petrovaradinu, Centralni Srem - Vojvodina. + Jelacic je polozio banovsku zakletvu pred Srpskim Patrijarhom Josifom Rajacicem.

I duno what youre trying to compare. Jelacic' mother wasnt even Croatian, and his fathers mother was Serb. There are Serbs in Vojvodina who trace their lineage to Josip Jelacic, and are extremely proud of this. Just becaue you have one hero in your history who wasnt a Fascist, doesnt mean you have to hate on him.
Petrovaradin
Vojvodina..............Serbian area. Yeah? Ok. Stop sipping on Haterade guys.

He was alive before Yugoslavia even existed, i dont really care but it doesnt make sence to call him a yugoslav hero.. He never fought for a yugoslavia.

Do you behave like this on purpose vucigorski? You cannot be this ignorant. Jelacic never fought for a Yugoslavia because the country never existed during Jelacic's lifetime. I don't know how to make that any more clearer. And he was as much as Serb as Ivo Andric, which for some reason Serbs seem to claim.
Now if you studied history, you would know Banus Jelacic wanted to restore the Croatian Frontier Province of Syrmia with an administrative center at Srijemska Mitrovica and the Regiment of Petrovaradin. There was a political movement calling for "Great Hungary." Banus Jelacic intended to counteract this tendency by entering into an alliance with the Serbs of Vojvodina about 1848/9. However, Serbs living in Syrmia intention was to split the Syrmia from the Civil Croatia State by force and to "annex" it to "Serbian Vojvodina" thus thrashing Jelacic's efforts.
Layman's terms: Jelacic wasn't born in Vojvodina but the Croatian Frontier Province of Syrmia. I don't know how to explain this any better. I posted maps, but I guess you care not for the truth. If you still believe Jelacic was a Yugoslav born in Vojvodina then you really truly are delusional. Good day!
