Islamic calligraphy is beautiful, and quite old, I imagine. What language is used? Is it cursive style for certain language? I've seen it in certain countries and it is beautiful.
With my religion, I love Icons. I have them all around the house. I have very old ones, hand painted, that are a few hundred years old passed down to me. They always are put on the east walls of the house or placed a certain way, in any room, so when you face the icon, you face east. In your faith, is it true that one faces east when praying?

The balut is either buried or boiled after developing for a while. Not sure if it is boiled just before hatching or some time before. Oh, okay...thanks for explaining . lol, I would say the same! ;D. Do you generally like..."special" foods? ;D. Or delicacies, as you call them ;D. Thanks... . Thank God . Where did you get all these injuries? . I personally think that the old styles are much more beautiful than the newer styles. It's obvious that the old ones have been cared for more. It's Arabic that's used . You are Catholic or Orthodox, right? Is there a specific reason why the icons are put on the east walls? I always wondered about that... Not necessarily...the qibla (which basically means "praying direction" in Arabic) is the Holy city of Mekkah in Saudi Arabia; we should be faced towards it . So which direction one faces while praying totally depends on where in the world one are.

NYC and the military.
I am Orthodox. The Icons are placed on the east walls because of the rising sun, which symbolizes the Light of Christ coming into the world. We normally pray to the east (but it's okay to pray in any direction because God sees and hears all since he is everywhere) because the sun rises in the east and Christ is described in the scriptures as "Sun of Righteousness". Also, when Christ was crucified, his face was turned to the west, so we worship and pray towards the east.
Thank you making me understand the direction Muslims pray. I guess direction would depend on where you are.

Demosthenes, Oh, I understand better now about the East - thanks . Peccafly, I don't like either of their singing ;D. Of Arabic female singers I prefer Nawal Al Zoghbi...but I really like Arabic male singers the most; Ragheb Alamah, Assi El Hellani, Amr Diab...

Actually they are not so different. It is not like, let's say, turbo folk and jazz.

When my brother refused saying that was just " stupid " thinking lol...my old man flipped out and completely went jihad on him. I was like wtf ? lol Hahaha! He reminds me of my mom ;D. She's like that, too...she gets hysteric and mad if I leave a scissor open, a cabinet door open or sleep without a miniature Quran under my pillow or mattress - she belives it all brings bad luck - and bad dreams. I'm scared to drop a fork or whatever in her presence because she'll sigh at me and get mad at me: "Honey, PLEASE...I'm not in the mood for guests!". Me: "Oh cool, you're having guests?". Her: "not yet, but that fork/knife/spoon you just dropped just assured that I'm getting some soon! ". Sorry... ... She also belives in astrology...always reading the horocope of the Leo, or watches it on TV (on Arabic TV they have these astrology programmes). Trouble is, she's actually a Sagittarius, not a Leo. When I say that to her she gets mad at me and says that she's a LEO because some stupid-ass astrologer told her that - even though she's born in November . She's slowly accepting that she's a Sagittarius now though...because I laugh at her and tell her that if you can pick and choose your sign then I want to be a Leo, too. But she hasn't accepted it to the extend where she considers herself a Sagittarius - she still reads the Leo's stuff, saying that she "won't change it now that she's used to being a Leo", hahaha ;D. I love her ;D.

Quirky stuff...
I can totally zone out when someones talking to me and only zone back in at the end, in time to figure out what they were babbling on about.
I have a mad 6th sense, pick up the fone b4 it rings, think of someone and they come to my house/call me, know when something good/bad will happen. Know when someone is lieing.
I blow up electrical stuff if im angry, many have witnessed the lights burning out, tv turning off, radio blowing up, etc when im not in a good mood. (apparently i should step barefeet on soil LOL)
I dream the future loads of times, therefore don't really agree with the consept of time.
I always find money when im skint, somehow.. It just turns up.
Kids, and animals love me. whereever I go, even the most vicious little bast.ard kid will come and put his/her head on my shoulder.
My mum, grandmum, greatgrandmum etc etc.... all the way back are some kind of crazy coffee fortune tellers.
man this stuff is scaring me now!
I hate spinich and liver. I can die to protect an innocent animal or child, but cudn't give a toss about a grown person.

Kids don't like me at all...maybe because I'm a bit strict, I don't know...but whatever, I don't like kids anyway. Except my own, of course.

I find that I don't agree with people who are similar to me personality-wise (likes and dislikes, musical compatibility, hobbies, quirks). I just don't know why.

I'm so bored...
Anyway ;D...a lot of members here know what my name is - but I think it's only a couple of people who know that it's actually not the name my parents gave to me/the name on my birth certificate. I changed my name officially when I was almost 19...
