Any other reasons besides corruption? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) One new F-16 jet costs 40 millions dollars. We have recently bought 30 of them.We need modern armed forces in order to face the Turkish agression. We are the only members -together with Cyprus-of the E.U who face such a serious threat. The rest country members simply dont face any such threat, they simply dont have enemies...So,we HAVE TO spent lots of money for our defence.Have they-the Europeans- ever thought of this fact?

A second thought...Germany owes us money! In fact they owe us billions of Euros as a compensation for WII invasion and occupation!!!For the executions, the bombardments, the deaths because of starvation... Bulgaria also owes us some money because of the crimes that were commited in the Bulgarian occupation zone...Argyris Sfountouris
www.fontanafilm.ch/DOKFILME/argyris/argyris_e.html
When he was 4 y.o,his village Distomo was destroyed by the nazis due to retaliatory measures. Now,he decided to bring a charge against Germany, claiming some compensation. His life has inspired director Stefan Haupt who made a movie known by the title "A song for Argyris" (Ein lied fur Argyris).
Once,a victim of the nazis. On June 10, 1944, his village,Distomo was massacred by the nazis. He survived from the tragedy and as an orphan child he was taken to an orphanage in Athens.Later,he was taken to Switzerland where he studied mathematics, nuclear physics and astrophysics. As a young physics teacher, Argyris started to write poems and essays. At forty, there was a radical change: Argyris decided to become a development aid worker. After taking a Master of Advanced Studies in Development and Cooperation (NADEL) at ETH Zurich, he spent several years in Somalia, Nepal and Indonesia, where he took part in a project setting up advanced technical colleges. On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Distomo massacre in 1994, Argyris and the community of Distomo organised a “congress for peace” at the European cultural centre in Delphi. The congress topics “Remembrance – mourning – hope“ looked at the efforts made in Germany, Greece and elsewhere as regards compensation, defeating hate, and reconciliation.
Together with his three sisters, Argyris decided to bring a charge against Germany. In parallel, a collective claim was filed in Greece by 290 directly affected people, relatives, and descendants in Distomo.
For Germany the matter was extremely “delicate”. In case Argyris’s appeal or the Distomo collective claim came through, this could cause a breach in the dam, flooding the German Federal Republic with countless international reparation claims, which it had managed to ward off and postpone for decades.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_ViennaThe Battle of Vienna/Schlacht am Kahlenberg/Ýkinci Viyana Kuþatmasý One question for you...What if the Turks had succeeded their goal? How would Vienna and Austria look like today?I believe that corruption in Greece is one of the main results of the Otthoman occupation.Actually not only in Greece, but in the whole of the Balkans, where corruption is a serious problem as well!

Why dont we use our natural resources?I have read related articles in many newspapers in which some people claim that the country is very rich in resources such as gold, petrol and uranium.I remember mr.Sofianopoulos experimental exploit of Ionian islands petrol which was stopped by Rallis administration.Anyway,i havent found any related internet article in English.

It will get worse before it gets better.....Corruption must be held at a minimum. If the 2 million immigrants work and pay taxes that is a plus for us... the problem is a lot of them don't work...

1. You guys gotta figure new ways deal with Turkey. While Jets and an army are deterrents they are not enough. 2. Germany destroyed half of the world. Nobody is getting anything from them. 3. From what I've read here government jobs in Greece have a whole lot more entitlements and benefits than anywhere in Europe even after you've left the job. 4. You guys have to get serious about immigration. Make thorough research about how many immigrants the country can support and how many new immigrants per years are beneficial. Then after this write a serious law. From what I know the immigration laws in Greece are a joke. Not only that but the consular and embassy personnel of Greece is a joke. I remember reading that at one point you could buy a Greek visa for like 200 EU from the counsel. 5. Follow Italy's example on how to better manage the influx of immigrants through the help of neighboring countries. For example through bilateral deals there are almost zero immigrants going from Albania to Italy through our shores. 6. The situation as is now its an opportunity to make things better for the future and fix the system.

Corruption + Olympic Games 2004 The cost of Olympic games was 8.954 billion euros, and only for the security the cost went to €970 million. Did the Greek people got any of those money back? Nope.....
I know many stories about the half-done works and contractors sharing the fat bills with Greek ministers and beurocrats. In the Olympic village, one of my friend worked there, the Drainage Systems were fake just some metal leads installed in the surface of the road, because was done the last moments and the money went elsewhere. I so with my own eyes the private Yacht of Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki, in 2007...There went the money, and many other pockets tho! And today Greek people have to pay the bill for many generations to come

that dumb travestite whore broad dakalaki had a whole floor at the olympic 2004 building in Nea Ionia for herself. All the other employees had small rooms....the justification for the size of her office was to cater and host foreign delegates.
I hope she rots that pig...

we have to revoke asylum for politicians. we have to send the offenders to jail we have to audit the rich and finally we need to exile, confiscate property and use force to implement change.

1. You guys gotta figure new ways deal with Turkey. While Jets and an army are deterrents they are not enough. LOL ! You ever deal with a turk ? Go to turkey and try to buy a carpet.
2. Germany destroyed half of the world. Nobody is getting anything from them. agreed...
3. From what I've read here government jobs in Greece have a whole lot more entitlements and benefits than anywhere in Europe even after you've left the job. true, actually France gets pretty good benefits too.
I know that albanianis used to find lawyers to help keep them in Greece. I dont think the same applies to Paki's, ect.
5. Follow Italy's example on how to better manage the influx of immigrants through the help of neighboring countries. For example through bilateral deals there are almost zero immigrants going from Albania to Italy through our shores. Again, you try doing business with a party that does not honor their agreement. BTW - Italy shoots at refugee boats.
6. The situation as is now its an opportunity to make things better for the future and fix the system. When the "problem" governs your country then it will never get better.

Dont you thing they know something.. you dont? By the way, if next to you there is a country and their new minister in 21st century (Davoudoglou) speaks with joy about Ottoman Empire and dreams about it in the future for Balkans.... and almost 25% of the voters vote for nationalistiv parties and the other 60% for Religious parties.. .I think we have a small agression issue.. ;D

You Greeks are pathetic.. Again you blame others and don't take responsibility. I can't believe you are serious about getting money from Germany.. Russia, Poland, France, England, etc were absolutely ruined by Germany during the war and yet Greece wants to get $$ when they were barely invaded. It was almost 70 years ago and what about all the money from the Marshall plan? Did your bisexual politicians steal that money for themselves? You should be happy that you got aid because a lot of countries didn't.. And the immigrants didn't do shit to damage the greek economy, they all work in labor jobs, off the books and don't get paid much it's the rich people who make a killing who don't pay taxes the one to blame. Again Greeks blaming the immigrants for the economic crisis. And every European country has threats in military also.. Alot of the western European countrys are putting a lot of money into the Middle East and the war of Terrorism.. Greece spends half of there budget trying to rival Turkey's military when it just can't happen considering Istanbul has twice as many people of whole Greece. Greek tragedy...

This will be my last thought about the crisis and about Greece in general. I officially went through an awakening process these last couple days. I used to harbor a lot of bad feelings to countries like UK and USA. I used to think they had it out for us espescially our national interests. I have never been so wrong... today I have been " freed " from thinking in this manner and it feels good.

from the amount of greed, arrogance, and self-destruction that our politicians did to us. These ppl did not think of ELLAS for one second when they were building their villas. Ive have witnessed firsthand how these ppl ran our country into the ground. No westerner ever produced the amount of damage our own " Greeks " have done. And the worst thing of it all...Nobody will go to jail. So whats the point ? Who needs Americans and English when you have your own that will do the job nicely.
I feel for Papandreou, he really looks like he has a tough job. They are currently talking about opening a hearing to discuss scandals and corruption. The funny part is they expect ppl to testify against themselves ;D Only in a country like Greece does this happen. They are insulting our intelligence.

The funny part is they expect ppl to testify against themselves ;D Only in a country like Greece does this happen. They are insulting our intelligence. Chlakedon things are not that easy...keep in mind that the Greek people did actually always support the corruption...either actively or passively. Tell me if all our politcians were that bad...why were they always reelected for several times? The billions of Euros that have been wasted in the course of the decades did not only go to the pockets of the politcians but also the oridinary people. Instead of spending money for the infrastructure it was wasted for dozen thousands of civil service posts without needing one of them. Everyone in Greece wanted to ensure his own welfare first of all. They did all steal from the Greek state. It is wrong to blame the politicians only.....the politcians are always the mirror image of the population in a democracy. I believe that if there might change something in Greece it is because of the Greeks themselves who have begun to rethink. Its not because of Papandreou...Papandreou knows very well that there are no alternatives. Just before the elections he wanted to make the people believe there are....he is a liar. People in Greece must understand that its not the politicians that have to change primarily but the mentality of the Greek ordinary people themselves. If the politicians know that corruption is a total tabu within the main part of the population they will stop with it for the most part automatically. Its a circle...one hand washes the other.
