I was in the Balkans '91-'92 with the military. I saw lots of crap that disgusted me and made me think negatively about a certain people for a long time.

The Balkan people will prosper when they create a Balkan "Monroe Doctrine" which would stop external imperialist forces meddling into their affairs.

I would rather serve the interests of a thousand meddlers then world alongside Serbs and Greeks. Only those who stand to lose from external imperialists are so opposed to them, and try to give off moral and ethical arguments. Without America the Balkans would be suffering 100x more than it is now...

And you have...that is why all the bloodshed you where always on the wrong side..
Crimes by yours and after years even centuries, Revenge (crimes) by ours, and on and on.
It will be the same again if ever given a chance but I would like to think that with updated technology it would be more effective this time when our turn comes again..... Lets hope history this time does not repeat.

And in the end Serbs are virtually extinct in Kosova. You missed my second point entirely, or chose to ignore it. If Serbs stood to gain by America today Albanians would be on such forums attacking Serbs and hoping they realize their fatality. Instead here we are, on opposite camps. We will always be neighbors, which means we will always be opposed to eachother in every natural way... its just how things are. The meddlers are there to swing tides and will always be there to do such things. We will always want something. Serbs want Kosova and as do Albanians... the powers ensure that there ultimately is a settlement. In areas where powers are not involved as heavily turmoil lasts decades more.

Balkan Battlegrounds is the single best English language book on the Balkans wars of the 90's. It's strictly from a military perspective. Highly reccomended.
Provides a military history of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia between 1990 and 1995. Produced by two military analysts in the Central Intelligence Agency who tracked military developments in the region thoughout this period and then applied their experience to producing an unclassified treatise for general use.
