Well I came across this while reading up about the Hussars. Serbs apparently participated on the side of Poles in a war against the Russians called the Battle of Orsha in 1514. Yeah down with the Moskvali!

Mercenaries don't count. But yeah, why would Serbs fight Russians? If nothing else, they're too far away.

Are you very proud of it? No. It's just interesting since it's a little contradition of Serbian-Russian relations. I actually wish Nikolic had won the last ellections in Serbia so that a "risk" could have been taken with even closer relations with Russia.

If you wanted to point that out then why bring up mercenaries? Shouldn't you point out that Serbs sided with the Turks during the Russia-Turkey war of 1813 because the Turks promised Serbs autonomy?

Also came across this quote when looking into the Hussars. Has to be one of my favourite finds now... the translation sounds dodgy but it's quite a significant find if it's true particularly considering the time period. Can anyone here read the most beautiful language in the world - French? Nicolay, Nicolas de (1517-83) was a French traveller, soldier, artist, and royal Cartographer. He had this description complete with drawing to say of a Turkish Delly soldier he came across... "I was curious about that warrior, full in armour and feathers [for whom Nicolas de Nicolay thought that was Turkish deli-horseman] and, i asked about his faith... he said that he is Serbian and that he joined to the Turkish caravan only because he also travel to Istambul (Constantinople). He said that he only pretend to be nice to Turks but that he is Christian by his will and his soul and he said few prayers as a proof to confirm his identity- Simbol of faith, Mother of God and Our Father. Prayers were said in Greek and on his native Serbian langauge." in his book Nicolas de Nicolay contines: "i asked warrior why he uses all those feathers on his equipment. To look more terribe to my enemies, to confuse them in battle- answered warrior. Warrior then said that by the tradition of his people, feathers could be used only by brave warriors who deserved that in real combat and who are known by their skils and virue. Featers are decoration exclusively for brave warriors. That`s what i was able to get as information from that warrior." I had no idea Serbs had uniforms like that! That is damn cool! Oh and a Muslim convert identifying as a Serb. oh oh oh. Where are all these Muslim Serbs now??? That's right they call them selves Bosniaks these days.

Dude, SO many of Russia's diplomats and army generals of the 17th 18th and 19th century were all Serbian
