ridiculous ... if women who wear the niqab don't agree with French laws and French culture, they can leave the country no one is forcing them to stay ! Democracy and Laic State doesn't mean you can use democratic rules to impose things only to women (this is called discrimination, and that has nothing to do with democracy !!).

Is that your general opinion of people who oppose certain laws in their countries? They just gotta shut up, agree and obey or leave the country altogether? In democracy you have the right to not agree and speak up when you don't. That's how laws constantly change.

That's my opinion when something goes against the culture of the country which they are in, and when it's against equality between men and women, and when they want to impose a culture that is cmpletely foreign to France. Law changes but the goal of a law changing is to make things better, to make mentalities change but in the good way (homosexuality, etc ...) not to allow people to spread radical islam ... !!!

Shejtani, There's no such thing as one culture in a country like France - which people are supposedly obliged to assimilate into. I'm all for integration but that means you take the best from all the cultures you're surrounded by, not just (a selectd) one. I'm not saying niqab is a (good) culture to follow - I just don't like the arguement that if you live in France, you need to be exactly like native Frenchmen. In this way, you can ban people from eating kebab, too. Or drink chai. Or speak their maternal language at home. Arsenije,

The laws are discriminatory, simple as that. They are suited and designed against a specific people, which makes them so. Laws, in modern times and supposedly, are there not to ban or limit but to protect the rights of life. This law is there to limit and discriminate and isolate one group from the rest.
That being said, I agree with any law that bans the headscarf. Especially for Albania, I think that it should be banned entirely.

Yes,it is not French, but so are many things in France.Maybe they should ban McDonalds as a start.
