Following on from the Balkan team thread, which really should be called a ex yu team, beacause we did not add any Bulgarian or Romanian footballers, what would be the greatest ever ex-yu team. Mine would be! Ladic Mihajlovic Bilic Djukic Jarni Prosenecki Jugovic Boban Savicevic Mijatovic Suker Subs: Stojkovic,Pancev,Vidic,Binic,Stankovic,Kovac,Stimac,Boksic. Too many great players, its giving me a headache Can any other country the size of ours used to be[Yugoslavia] boast such talent? My god we are such fools, we could have been world champions In football, basketball, volleyball, handball, waterpolo, tennis,Sking for years and years, sorry just getting a bit Nostalgic!

Dzajic and Sekularac would HAVE to be in there over some of those names. I would also take out Suker and Mijatovic and replace them with Bobek.

It would more likely be:
Beara
Surjak Horvat Durkovic Dzajic
Cajkovski Katalinski Prosinecki Oblak
Bobek Galic
Subs: Curkovic(Gk), Pancev(S), Mijatovic(S), Stojkovic(S), Susic(M), Stankovic (M), Savicevic (M), Zajec (M), Sekularac (M), Jerkovic (M), Jusufi (D), Peruzovic (D)
Coach: Tomislav Ivic Assistant Coach: Ivica Osim

Suker I agree, he had Boban basically serve the ball on a platter.
But Boban should be included.

Suker is one of the greatest strikers of all time from the region. Boban didn't play with him in Sevilla nor Real Madrid. But in Sevilla he played 153 times and scored 76 times. Madrid 86 and 40. He was awesome no matter how you look at it.
I was just saying Suker, Boban, etc. shouldn't be included because they never played for Yugoslavia. After all, these are the greatest "ex-yu" teams.

I never liked Suker much, but with an average of 13-15 goals/season do you think that's legendary?
Anyways, they did play for Yugoslavia. Suker a sub in the 1990 world cup, and Boban later for the 1992 qualifications.

Well compare Suker to Piksi on both club and national level. How about Galic, Bobek, etc? Suker, statistically, beats them all considering he played in better leagues.

Suker represented Yugoslavia at the 1987 Youth World Championships in Chile. Yugoslavia won the title. I think he should be included in the lineup, seeing as he scored 6 goals and brought Yugoslavia to win the title.

Yeah that was Under-21 and not the official NT. Prosinecki was the MVP of the tournament.

Youth MVP of 1990 too.
Anyways, Boban and Suker made appearances in the 1992 Qualifications. They left shortly after, but wouldn't that make them eligibile?
