Uz, I dont blame the government, most of these countries held referendums, like Montenegro and FYRoM for example.

They were obviously politically motivated. Look who led that "movement". Besides, Montenegro is Serb soil regardless of borders. And with the MAcs.... we have a lot in common, some cases I confuse Macedonians for Serbs or vise-versa by looks and behavior. I went to highschool with a lot of Macs, many I've stayed friends with.

The problem with FYROMS is that they refuse their slav blood. They refuse to believe that they are slavs. I have more respect for those who accept who they than those who try to give them the Ancient Macedonian identity with an airport named after a Greek hero which has nothing to do with the current day FYROMS.
BTW.... all referendums are politically motivated, all parties want you to vote for their interests. Its a matter of who manages to convince people the most and a matter of what the people themselves feel is right.

However we also have non-Slav blood, as do all Balkan Slavs. Albanians, Romanians and Greeks should also not refuse the Slav blood in their veins. As for the heroes we honour, Alexander and the founders of the ancient Macedonian state cannot be ignored. Remember however that we also honour our Slavic heroes aswell.

Well are you people endorsing a United Balkan or a United Slavic Balkans? Because if its like the title suggest then there is no reason to throw out the Albanians. Anyway the one Albanian poster was correct. The Balkan Slavs are far more likely to align themselves with friendly non Slavs than with Slavs. Croats with Germans & Hungarians , Same with Slovenes. Serbs with Greeks , Macedonians with ?? , and Albanians with I uno , maybe Croats or Bosnian Muslims or even Romanians ( shot in the dark). Yugoslavia proved that in the end people won't accept one another and have united goals.

Personally, I am against this idea as long as southern parts of Balkans are underdeveloped. Something major needs to happen for those people down there in order to make some kind of breakthrough, but now even Greece who was doing ok is in crisis, so obviously this will have to wait for better time.

There is no reason to have a political union. Why would a group of people want to lose their majority status and why would they subject themselves to potential laws written up by others?
It's bad enough that the fate of your property might be decided in some distant city by politicians in your own country's capital that do not give a rats bottom about you. But then to have that decided in an even more distant capital is just ridiculous.
How about thinking the other way? Instead of making larger unified states how about smaller fragmented ones ( break up the currently existing nations) in which the local organization would be more in touch with what actually effects you directly?

I think having our own nation states is fine. We should however co-operate in areas of common interest. I believe this is already happening in the world of economics eg., joint tenders for projects between companies from different Balkan states in order to compete with larger western companies. In the event of another shiptar revolt, I would also like to see a more unified response from the Serbian and Macedonian armies for example.
