I believe that omnivorous rats and bugs might be vital for eco system much like omnivorous shrimp and sharks (called garbage men of the sea if I am not mistaken) might be the same for marine eco system. Also rats and bugs are almost guaranteed to survive any living conditions on earth versus other living organism. Rat might be in fact the mammal with the best natural design. It is interesting to note that the first mammal that appeared over 200 million years looks pretty rat-like.
All of them are much more vital then humans are to eco systems.

While most countries have there native rodents, the Black Rat (rattus rattus) is the rat I was refering to, they originated from Asia and were spread by Roman traders to other countries, so sending them back in freezers would help the eco system and eliminate the damage and disease.
Generaly when the Asians develop a taste for an animal the extinction clock starts to tick.
