Just got news that my uncle was demoted for calling himself a "Srbin Crnogorac" when asked by management.. My uncle was a truck driver, delivering goods across Northern Montenegro and management decided to ask everyone what they considered themselves. My uncle told them he considered himself a Srbin Crnogorac and they gave the truck he was driving to someone else (who called themselves a Crnogorac) and was told he would be "raking up leaves" in the yard until further notice! How bad is that? This makes me so angry, that people in Crna Gora can't even call themselves Serbs anymore, yet siptari and bosniaks are allowed to call themselves whatever they want... Bloody terrible.

I guess Montenegrin 'management' views nationalist Serbs as their greater and more imminent threat to their survival as Montenegrins than the "siptari or bosniaks". Looks like 'shoving it to the MAN' didn't work in your uncle's favor this time.

Looks like 'shoving it to the MAN' didn't work in your uncle's favor this time. Going by your logic, the siptars and bosniaks are just as nationalistic.

And how was he being a "nationalist Serb" by answering their question?

Dosli ljudi na svoje. The Montes are now in control and they are using it, this kind of reminds me of Bosnia and what happened there.

The independence oriented government and busineeses are simply causing more tension by discriminating against people who aren't "djukljans" (i.e. the majority of Montenegrins).

The same "Djukljans" (i.e. most extreme independence supporters) were up till as early as 10 years ago the biggest Serb nationalists. This is nothing more then opportunism and them doing this for some kind of political gain.

Your uncle must understand that he's part of the ethnic minority which in majority is against the COUNTRY it's like fundamental muslims in america We Montenegrins fiercely oppose these terrorists like the SerbList and ect ect radovic - 10 years ago 10,000 montes were striking against serbia and the dubrovnik war and promoting an independent montenegro today just MORE montes have this same mentality Think of Montenegro becoming like a big Cetinje slowly but surely

Your uncle must understand that he's part of the ethnic minority which in majority is against the COUNTRY it's like fundamental muslims in america They are not an ethnic minority. Serbs and Montenegrins are two different nations of the same ethniticity. And your analogy is wrong for several reasons. How are they terrorists? So, according to you anyone who is against the policies of the Montenegrin state are terrorists. I guess this shows Terroreigns true colours. 10,000 is a minority of Montenegrins especially back then. And 10 years ago their was no war in Dubrovnik and the dubrovnik war was started by the montenegrin leadership (i.e. Djukanovic) and not by Serbia. Not alot more. A minority of Montenegrin's are djuklans. Plus, if people did not have economic benefit from independence then they wouldn't have voted for it. A number of Serbs voted for independence due to it bringing them economic benefits (i.e. more cash). B.S. The only thing I see is Cetinjasi abusing their powers now that they are priviledged due to their support for independence. Cetinje is nothing more then a backwater place that wants to live it's former glory. Their abuse of the majority of Montenegrins will backfire on them.

I agree. Censuses and polls show that a MAJORITY (by a wide margin) support the Serbian Orthodox Church and even more speak the SERBIAN language. Many Serbs voted for independence due to the economic benefits associated with independence.

srbobran - anything that can help you sleep at night... radovic - you don't seem to understand the point, 10,000 in 1991, 200,000 in 2006 The majority of Montes today are Liberals, the same people who were protesting in 1991, idiot What 200,000. Of that 200,000 the minority would be pro-independentist. Of that 200,000 majority are pro-independence for economic reasons or because they are Albanian, Bosniak and Croat minorities. I'd say less then 100,000 (a minority) are pro-independence for the same reasons you imply. The majority of Montes are not liberals. The montenegrin government is liberal and the discrimination ljubomir shows is just some proof of this fact. The DPS is not liberal, the Serb parties are not liberal, the ethnic minority parties are not liberal. There are only two liberal parties in Montenegro and they are the Liberal Party and the Movement for changes, who combined only have 12 seats out of 81. If montenegrins were liberal then an election would be held soon after the new constitution passed and the constitution would be put up to a referendum. None of this is happenning.

Simply disgusting, but not surprising. A similar thing happened to my uncle in his profession. Only thing is, it happened to him in 1998 when Djukanovic came to power.
TerrorReign, don't you have family members who consider themselves Serbs? I realize you are just trying to provoke the Serbs on this forum with your statements, but you seriously need to grow up. The only thing you are accomplishing is to make us hate you and your type more and more.

if he did have relatives who considered themselves serbs he wouldn't admit it, because he's a picka...
I've got relatives who consider themselves Crnogorci and only that... We get along fine, but just don't talk about politics haha. That's what the biggest problem about this whole montenegrin ethnicity, it's brought along by political ideologies and not factual evidence. That's why you get immediate family members (brothers, sisters etc.) that have different views of the matter, one considers himself a Serb and the other a Crnogorac.. If there were a true Montenegrin ethnicity, there wouldn't be this division amongst family members..

The only thing that happenned in 1997 was he solidifed power and he got rid of his former allies.

^ What are you talking about? The most significant thing that happened was the change in politics (from pro-Belgrade and pro-Serbian to anti-Belgrade and anti-Serbian).

Djukanovic was in power since 1989. In 1997 he switched allies and purged the montenegrin government of pro-Serb/pro-Belgrade elements and hired a lot of Cetinjasi. Djuklanovic was an important part of government since 1989. The main reason for thre switch was because of his businesses smuggling cigarettes. This business in Serbia was operated by Milosevic's son Marko while in Montenegro it was operated by Djukanovic. The dispute started since Marko was suppose to have the monopoly on the importantion and exportation of cigarettes and Djukanovic did not like that. Djukanovic prior to this disputes over cigarette smuggling was a pro-Serb poltiicans. He even made the comment "Because of Croats I will never play chess." -- a statement so idiotic that Seselj never said something like that.

You don't need to recap for me what happened. There was an ideological shift in 1997 and effective power switched from Bulatovic to Djukanovic.

The two only care about keeping and consolidating their power. In 1997 Djukanovic made a switch to stay in power.
