Hello, I have put folk and pop-music (mp3's) from Bulgaria at www.kroraina.com/music/It is a small, but I hope representative, in a way, selection. (After a couple of weeks the files will have to deleted because of the copyright.) And a couple of video-clips as well from youtube: Olga Borisova - Mlad me saka, star mi kitka zema (from Western Bulgaria) The virtuoso Ivo Papazov-Ibrjama and his wedding band: (There are many positive comments from Western listerners, musicians there.) Regards, Vassil

rarely, usually when i'm really drunk
it doesn't, many BG sites only work in BG, and i'm not very computer literate so i know nothing about proxies.
thanks! but do you know a place to download them? i've tried search engines, software, and torrents, cant find anything. btw, do you have, kon4e vihrogon4e or svur6i lubovta?
i have a few of his songs that i recorded on tape from a record player, so the quality isn't that good, and i can't listen to them at will.

^ in my fyrom slavic ...something about .... ---young loves me , old man takes flower---- ....something like that ......................... Bulgars ......am I close ? Yes, that's it However "to take flower from somebody" centuries ago meant that you like this person. This is how the young Bulgarians were expressing their feelings. For example a young man gives flowers to a girl, and if she takes them, this means that she likes him. In this song the problem of the girl is that an old man is bothering her, while she likes a young guy Here are the lyrics: Ãþë äåâîé÷å ìîðå ëå, ïîä ãþë çàäðåìàëî, ãþë ñå ðîíè ìîðå ëå, â óñòàòà ìó ïàäà, äåâîé÷å ìó ìîðå ëå, ïîòèõîì ãîâîðè, íå ìîé ãëþëå ìîðå ëå, çåëåí ñå íå ðîíè, (2) ÷å íå ìîãà ìîðå ëå, çåëåí äà òå áåðà, ÿç ñè èìàì ãþëå ëå äî äâà-òðè ëè ÿäà, ìëàä ìå ñàêà ãþëå ëå, ñòàð ìè êèòêà âçèìà, ÿç ñè èìàì ãþëå ëå äî äâà-òðè ëè ÿäà, ìëàä ìå ñàêà ãþëå ëå, ñòàð ìè êèòêà âçèìà. ßç ñè èìàì ãþëå ëå äî äâà-òðè ëè ÿäà, ìëàä ìå ñàêà ãþëå ëå, ñòàð ìè êèòêà âçèìà. Yes, that's it However "to take flower from somebody" centuries ago meant that you like this person. This is how the young Bulgarians were expressing their feelings. not only this. Girls in marriageable age were also carrying flowers on occasions and if a young man would managå to get them, the girl was regarded as being 'conquered', in a way. Here is a good description: "ß áåõ ìíîãî îïàêà êàòî ìîìà. Çà æåíåíå áåõ ñòàíàëà, à êèòêà íà ìîì÷å îùå íå áåõ äàâàëà. I saved these mp3's whilst back in Bulgaria a couple of years ago. Edlund could be our source of bg songs from now on Another great place is youtube. Have you seen this? - Maya Neshkova - Konche vihrogonche (2005)I suppose you know that one can save youtube clips by using Firefox (with the 'DownloadHelper' addition installed)? And, speaking of youtube, here is one Pomak song and dance, from southern Bulgaria:

... For example a young man gives flowers to a girl, and if she takes them, this means that she likes him. on a second thought, are you sure men were giving flowers? Because I seem to recall it was just the girls carrying them. Young men would present an APPLE to a chosen girl, and if she took it, then... Which is an old Balkan custom, I guess, with parallels in the Byzantine traditions, etc.

Ok, Edlun. I thought it is clear that one can have Olga Borissova's or Ibrjama's pieces as .flv video files (saved from youtube), so didn't bother about mp3's. Thanks for the other mp3's. I have no idea about the more recent musical developments in Bulgaria, so you can put some more songs if you like.. Do you have an mp3 of Pancho Vladigerov's rhapsody "Vardar", BTW?

on a second thought, are you sure men were giving flowers? Because I seem to recall it was just the girls carrying them. Young men would present an APPLE to a chosen girl, and if she took it, then... Which is an old Balkan custom, I guess, with parallels in the Byzantine traditions, etc. I might have been wrong about this. I know the expression "niama da ti vyrnat kitkata" - "you won't get your flowers back" from my mother. When I was 10 years old I broke my arm and the doctor put the gypsum wrong and so it knit together a little crooked. This is hardly visible, and when I noticed it I showed it to my mother and she siad "Goliama rabota, niama da ti vyrnat kitkata" I didn't know what does this mean and she explained me about the flowers and my knowledge on the subject was from that conversation I understood that men were giving flowers. It turns out that if someone gives you back your flowers was a bad thing, but only for the women. So my mother didn't use the idiom correctly Yes, here it is - kroraina.com/music/ni/Pantcho%20Vladigerov%20-%20%22Vardar%22%20Bulgarian%20Rhapsody.mp3Here are actually two songs and dances. The second starts around 3 min. 10 sec. of the clip. It's "Mome le mari ubava", which I uploaded earlier, it's very good - kroraina.com/music/ni/Desilitsa%20-%20Mome%20le%20mori%20ubava.wmaThe version which I uploaded is performed by the folkgroup "Desilica" from Bansko. You can find many songs using peer to peer programs like DC++. After installing it, join the hubs dc.data.bg, dc.bol.bg, dc.megalan.bg, dc.find-bg.com... There are more but these are enough for these songs.

Ok, thanks Edlund. I am listening to "Vardar" now. I will advertise it now in another forum to the Macedonians there, ingratefuls as they are..
I will see whether I can master these peer to peer programs.
