Bulgaria Seaside Not So Attractive to Scandinavians and Romanians AnymoreUpdated on: 09.04.2008, 14:17 Less Scandinavians are expected to arrive on a holiday in Bulgaria this summer, warns the chairperson of Varna Tourism Chamber Marin Neshkov. The exodus was due to several crimes against Swedish citizens that the press in the Scandinavian country strongly related. The Britons on the other hand were in shock from local laws and now are selling the purchased from them apartments and villas in Bulgaria. Romanian tour operators will bring their clients to Bulgaria with ice enthusiasm. The tourists from Bulgaria's Northern neighbor were startled by the lack of parking lots and the non-stopping ‘car lifters'. At the same time is foreseen 5% rose of German tourists after the big expo in Berlin. The new summer season 2008 will be officially opened on May 9 in the Day of Europe. Prices won't be higher than the last year, promised the boss of the hoteliers' unity in Golden Sands resort. Night spend plus breakfast in 5 star hotel will cost 70-80 EUR, 40-45 EUR in 4-star hotel and per 25-30 EUR in 3-star hotels. international.ibox.bg/news/id_1876345442

Bulgaria was a cheap Ibiza, but after all prostitution on the beach, drinking and accidents - nah. Already from last year the Scandinavian tourist stream avoid Bulgaria. Good lesson and warning for the tourism management. This year Croatia and Turkey will take lots of Scandinavians.

Most of these accidents belong to the drunkards from Western Europe, mainly Britain. Your beloved Scandinavians were drunk on the plane and didn't know which country they were about to visit. And why on earth we need those boring scaninavians who usually are big skinflints?

Firs of all, Scandinavians are not skinflints. You have no knowlege of the amount of money they spend on holidays.
Haha.. fairytales. So you mean Bulgarians don't drink even more?! Everyday I see them.. and the worst thing is, they drive drunk. There are so many accidents in BG. The biggeest paradox last years was the "ice skating" guy. I don't think he will get punnished for that either.

Not really, plenty of evidence those Scandianavians get pissed and can't stand on their legs at the border control. Not that I expect you to know this...
They do, but they are good in drinking. You probably get wankered after 100mg of vodka but you are not Bulgarian so it is all right.
What is bothering you in this case? All your concerns deal with the unpunished former communist activists.

I've been travelling many times on charter with Swedes - I probably know better than you. And what if somebody who is already on vacation drinks scotch etc. on the plain. He doesn't kill ppl anyway.
Yeah right, they know how to drink.. That's why I see ppl dying young, at age of 50-55. I don't see any Swedes dying that young - of alcohol.
No Ruse, what bothers me is... there's a law system, but wonder who follows the rules?! Anyway, tourism is good for Bulgaria. Ppl should be glad for all the natural resources and for the visitors coming.

The Scandinavians who have been visiting Bulgaria these last couple of years were mainly youths searching for fun. Some time ago, the island of Kos in Greece had the same role as Sunny Beach has now/recently had. Perhaps the incidents last year speeded up what was to come anuways ... but this was inevitable; jus like the idea of Kos as the eternal party place died, so did/will Sunny Beach. Perhaps a different approach should be made to also attract other sorts of tourists, perhaps families?
As for Scandinavia; alcohol conumption is relatively high here. But it isn't evenly distributed; the youth is overrepresented in this regard, especially young women.
