This is about Demographics of Montenegro
Number % TOTAL 100 Montenegrins 43.16 Serbs 31.99 Bosniacs 7.77 Albanians 5.03 Muslims 3.97 Croats 1.1 Romany 0.42 Yugoslavs 0.3 others 6.26 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It then has a subsection on latest results from 2008. Does anyone know if these are accurate? If so....are there any hard sources?
The latest poll from early 2008 had given a changed ethnic distributions:
45.4% Montenegrins 34.3% Serbs 8.3% Muslims 5.1% Albanians 4.4% Bosniacs 0.9% Croats 1.6% others
Interesting parts :
*Montenegrins have gone up 2% *Serbs have gone up 2% *Bosiaks have gone down 4% *Muslims up 5% *Others gone down by 5% ----------------------------------------------------------------------
Who the hell are "Others"?

^ Others would be does who declared regional affiliation, refused to declare an affiliation, unaware of their affiliation and groups to small to be anything more then a statistical anomally. They are all grouped as others.
It seem's that most of the increase in Serbs and Montenegrins is do to others choosing to declare themselves as such. Overall looks like a positive development.

I never seen this census before, possibly its just a sample survey, so its not too accurate.
Others would be people who see themselves as yugoslavs and the roma

I know a lot of people who were fearful of declaring themselves as Serbs in 2003. They thought they would lose their jobs. Even if you declared as Yugoslav, it is pretty logical to declare yourself as Serb afterwards. So, I can definitely see the number of Serbs going up from the category of 'others'.
The Montenegrin category might be a little off. You have Muslims/Bosniaks and Albanians who like to declare themselves as Montenegrin too.

The "Bosniaks" are a dying nation in Montenegro
Muslims in Montenegro are seen as part of the Montenegrin Ethnic Group
And many are prominent members of the Doclean Academy of Sciences and Arts
I don't see the serb number going up, instead I see it dropping
The birthrates for the serb minority in Montenegro are low, and serbs are of the poorer peoples (Together with the roma and albanians) and many are leaving Montenegro to Serbia.

Not true. This is not based on fact.
That's because they have anti-Serb politics and that academy is the biggest anti-Serb institution in Montenegro.
The number of people emigrating to Serbia is split between those declaring themselves Montenegrins & Serbs. Not only that but the birthrate of Serbs & Montenegrins is relatively the same, only Roma, "Bosniaks"/Muslims & Albanians have birthrates above 2.1.

If you've been to Montenegro, its basically a known fact that the muslims do not relate themselves to bosnia or "bosniaks", but to Montenegro and everything Montenegrin.
No, there is no "anti-serb" politics found in the institution, in fact it is pretty moderate and respects the rights of all minorities in Montenegro including serbs. And respects their right to speak "srpski".
But now according to a nationalistic serb, the institution is a huge threat and is a gift from the devil. Same with a Croat institution or any other institution looking out for its own interests and not serbia's.
Not true. This is not based on fact. .....
Where do you get this nonsense from, explain yourself.

If you've been to Montenegro, its basically a known fact that the muslims do not relate themselves to bosnia or "bosniaks", but to Montenegro and everything Montenegrin. I have and that is total b.s. The only think they do not relate themselves to are to the Bosniaks accross the border in Serbia. They identify with Bosnia then they would to Montenegrins. The opinions, quotes & actions of those members speak otherwise. First of all I'm a Montenegrin. Second of all, I did not call it a threat or compare it to the devil. Third of all, all I said was that Muslim membership in the institution has nothing to do with them being more attracted to Montenegro then Bosnia or them believing in the academies historical revisionism but with them having anti-Serb views. Simple. Only Serbs & Montenegrins in Montenegro suffer from the Whiter Plague, while Albanians, Gypsies, Bosniaks/Muslims do not. The latter three groups have birth rates above 2.1 (I believe their averages are 3), while the fertility rate of Serb/Montenegrin women are below 1.83.

I bet I have been to more cities in Montenegro than you have
And not only are Bosniaks non-existant as a group in Bar and Podgorica, where a good amount of muslims live
But in Montenegrin Sandzak, Bosniaks are shrinking, and more are registering as Montenegrins
I know this since I have been to Plav, Gusinje and Bijelo Polje myself. You haven't and you have no way to say what most believe they are.
We don't want you.
There exist Bosnian groups and institutions in Montenegro, yet more muslims are part of DANU, then those tiny groups.
One of the stupidest statements out of the many.
Again pretty wrong in reality, but I'll give you a chance to show me some evidence, or statistics

The Montenegrin category might be a little off. You have Muslims/Bosniaks and Albanians who like to declare themselves as Montenegrin too. First time I agree with you on something mapko. lol But its true, there are a lot of Albanians in Montenegro that declare themselves "Montenegrin" in the surveys/censuses.

Muslims and Bosniaks are irrelevant in Podgorica, combined they make less then 4% of the population. Neither has large numbers in Podgorica. Their isn't a big difference in their population. You are correct about Bar as self-declared Muslims outnumber Bosniaks by 3:1. This is a lie. In Montenegrin Sandzak they're declaring themselves as Bosniaks. In Plav-Gusinhe nearly 50% of people declared themselves as Bosniak vs. 6% Muslim. In Bijelo Polje more declared themselves Bonsiak as compared to Muslim -- more then 5,000 more. Good. I don't want to be associatred with Albanians. connection.ebscohost.com/content/article/1036001173.html;jsessionid=5DA55A5B712CD2807531ECAB55A0EECC.ehctc1

There's a family in a village called Bujk (close to Vladimir, about 45mins from Ulcinj) that we visit almost every year (spent every summer with them before 1999, there as well as in Ulcinj), and the village is 100% Albanian, yet when it comes time to vote, census, or whatnot, they put themselves as Montenegrins. And I don't blame them, they live in Montenegro, and they're Montenegrin. (as well as albanian)
By the way, I love Montenegro, and think of it as my second home, always promote it here in the US, and plan to build a house there in the future.

Seriously, what's the deal behind Albanians selling ice cream and burek? Is there a reason? In Sarajevo they were always famous for that, and in a positive way.

8.3% Muslims
These Muslims obviously do not see them as associated with Bosnia (whith which they have no relation as they are essentially Muslim Montenegrins) and I can see them all to simply stating that they are Montenegrins over time (in terms of ethnicity). So with that modification Montenegrin nationality might finally become majority.

It probably depends on the situation with Bosniaks in Bosnia. If Bosnia keeps on making tremors throughout the region the increase in Bosniak nationalism could reach other non-Bosniak Muslims in surrounding regions. It could create the case that Muslims will feel more drawn to Bosniak nationality.
