Radoslav Raspopović: Crna Gora i Rusija
Vladika Danilo Petrović Njegoš smatrao Crnogorce i Albance jednom političkom cjelinomVladika Danilo Petrovic Njegos supported Montenegrins and Albanians to be in one political union.
An insert from the writings of Vladika Danilo to the Russian Tsar from October 12/23 1711. In the writings of Vladika Danilo he explains to the Russian Emperor Peter the Great where to spread his rule.
In his writings he describes the many albanian tribes and cities, looking for the Russian Emperor to include these cities, so that other kings would not fight and war for them.
By the begining of the 18th century, he begins to believe that Montenegrins and Albanians must live together in a political union.
The truth, we know that Montenegrins and Albanians have much of the same traditions, clans (tribal organizations), both peoples are warrior races, war for many centuries was their only activity...
Still I was suprised when I found this, that Vladika Danilo believed Montenegrins and Albanians had to live together.
This was the begining of the 18th century, modern nations were created 100 years later, the serbian nation was in the 19th century constructed by Vuk Karadzic.
This form of thinking, from the begining of the 19th century was closer to middle-ages instead of modern times, people had a medieval mindset instead of modern - which was created on the concept of a political nation from the 19th century.
Did the Albanians agree back then for the Russian Emperor to include them in Montenegro, so that other kings wouldn't war with them?
Of course, this document like many others from Montenegrin history was hidden from the Montenegrin public, so that it wouldn't endanger Saint Sava's(Serbian Saint) followers.
Very Interesting stuff, not too surprising considering how close we were!
