Farmers brace themselves for new protests

Disappointed farmers pledge they would not give up in the struggle for funds that were promised to them
The agricultural association of B-H (UPBiH) accused the Government of the Federation of already violating a decision it adopted only a month ago, concerning the funds for agriculture in the Federation.
As their release states, the Government and Parliament of the Federation both adopted the Agricultural Development Strategy a month ago, clearly specifying that funds earmarked for the agriculture sector would equal six per cent of the budget.
However, the latest draft budget reduced this share to only three per cent.

I actually interviewed the farmer leading the protests in Sarajevo for a news story.
I was impressed by their commitment, surprised by the lack of support for the farmers from the various political parties before the 2006 elections.

I was impressed by their commitment, surprised by the lack of support for the farmers from the various political parties before the 2006 elections. It's because Bosnian polticians are too be squabbling amongst each other not seeking to compromise and promising to their electorate to do thing that constiutionally they cannot do. The case with the farmers ionly shows the incompetence of all Bosnian poltiicains regardless of ethniticity.
