For four years, I, along with other members of this forum, have been reading, learning, and were made to suffer on the epic controversary that pertained to the origins of Alexander the Great. During these years, the issue has been brought up over and over again; and when nothing new was brought up to light; when no new sources were revealed and when no new books were mentioned in support of the argument, people started to repeat the initial statements that they made in the beginning, now by mostly skipping the sources that helped them back their argument.
Enough is enough! When things get repeated--not by new members, but by old ones--; and when all the humour related to the topic has been exhausted, one needs to act on it, so that the recursitive arguments are put to an end. There is nothing new to learn, explore, or discover by being exposed to this sort of torture, so I plead you restrict repetative arguments that are meant to convince people by causing them distress. This will not restrict new efforts to genuily look into the subject; nor will this restrict free speech. It will merely put a stop to the spam posts that annoy the members with their one-sentence statement, saying that Alexander was of this, or of that, origin. In this case, it should not be the duty of the member to be selective to what he chooses to read, but of the poster, as to not be intrusive, divert and bait the reader into reading or possibly engaging himself in the subject, which is also time consuming and causes fatigue.
It should be noted that I am less influenced by this malice than those involved, mainly because it is not a subject that inflicts much interest in me, so don't confuse my way of expressing myself for being emotional or as a result of grief. These are my personal observations, but I trully believe that this practice stalls the advancement of other topics, as well asaffecting other members in a negative way.
