!The Director General of the Artisan Chamber of Koblenz, Karl Jüergen Wilbert, hopes that an in-the-works law on artisanship shall lead to joint projects between Montenegrin and German artists.
Dragan Kujoviæ, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, announced that his government will pass a Law on Artisanship by the end of the year. Kujoviæ commented that this economic sector has been neglected for a long time and hopes that the law will help the industry develop.
“The Ministry of Economic Development has recognized the importance of artisanship in Montenegro. The sector that has been unjustifiably neglected for a long period of time, so we plan to enact the law by the end of the year,” said Kujoviæ, following a meeting with representatives of Montenegro’s artisans last week.
Kujoviæ said that the working group dedicated to developing the law would likely have a draft ready by August.
Wilbert announced that his Chamber would support the enactment of the Law on Artisanship, and contact with Montenegrin artisans would be made through the Balkan Artisan Bureau.
“If the Law is enacted soon, we shall try to develop some joint projects to be financed by the German Ministry of Economic Development,” Wilbert said.
Vojislav Deliæ, the President of the Artisan-Entrepreneurship Chamber, was pleased with the results of the meeting. Deliæ said his organisation’s purpose is to, “recognize artisanship and give it a place and role it deserves in Montenegro’s development.”
“We have tried to present our activities to decision makers, since we cannot adopt the important framework we need for development of artisanship in Montenegro without them. We do not want employment from the government but rather conditions for work,” Deliæ said, adding that the Law would enable more stable development of artisanship.
