Croatia provokes EU fishing row 1 January 2008 | 02:46 | FOCUS News Agency Zagreb. The Croatian government is poised to set up a protected fishing zone despite strong opposition from the EU. The protected area which covers 57,000 sq km (22,800 sq miles) is due to come into force on Tuesday. Croatia says fishing stocks in the Adriatic are being depleted by Italy's fishing fleet. But the European Commission has indicated that refusing access to member states could affect Croatia's plans to join the EU. BBC

Well, this really shows that once you join the EU, your screwed as a country. No longer are you allowed to control your own borders. There is something very wrong here.

^ Fu cking A! Asswipe EU. It's good that they are finally standing up for something. ;D Time will tell. Actually, the only thing going in Croatias favour at this point in time is the fact that they aren't part of the group and technically, can't be pressured. Will they have the guts and stand up like Serbia and threatned not to join if fishing rights are taken away?
