PM: NATO Is Croatia`s Third Foreign Policy Success The NATO accession committee met today to discuss action for the Bucharest summit as invitation for Croatia’s accession to NATO is expected.
ZAGREB, CROATIA – The Croatian National Committee for NATO Accession met today, headed by Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, to agree on the activities which Croatia must perform to receive the invitation for NATO at the upcoming Bucharest summit. Croatian President Stjepan Mesic welcomed efforts so far, while Sanader said all NATO members also welcome everything that haas been done in Croatia.
- They put special emphasis on the sixth cycle of the NATO membership action plan which is nearly finalised - Sanader said, pointing out that the cabinet will do everything in the next two months in order for Croatia to receive the invitation.
When this happens, Sanader continues, it will be the third foreign policy success for Croatia, after non-permanent Security Council membership as ending the OSCE mission.
The National Committee has arranged for President Mesic and PM Sanader to attend the Bucharest summit and it was also decided that the citizens will be additionally informed about the North-Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
When asked what will happen over the Croatian Army reforms, President Mesic replied: the structural part has been carried out, but the matter of equipping it is an open issue, i.e. armament is closely connected with finances.
