Where are ya man, haven't seen you around? Hey man. I've been busy with work and play. Kids are on school holidays so its a battle keeping them occupied without tearing your hair out. Not to mention I've been repairing one of our cars. Mitsubishi Magna V6, one of the worst designed engines when it comes to repairs. Took me two days to rip out the water pump and to replace it. Never buying another front wheel drive car again. Not worth the pain.

BTW I am on the temptation of putting a subaru impreza 2.0l turbo driveshaft/engine/tranny to our 1.6 N/A impreza 1.6 MY2001. (buying a new car will cost less investments in Novi Sad he he he). Is it worth it?

Do you get constant bubbling through the radiator and/or is the radiator coolant oily in feel and texture and does it overheat. Maybe your heads are slightly warped and the surfaces only need machining. Would take you only one afternoon to pull the heads off and have them machined the next day. Just as quick to put them back on.

Is it worth it? Hi Pyrros. The kids are good, both girls, ones 8 and the other is 13. If your contemplating a drive train upgrade and that sounds like a serious upgrade, then you must in this case upgrade the radiator, brakes and suspension. With a turbo, the engine will generate more heat than a normally aspirated engine. I don't think the original radiator will cope in the hot weather. With so much more grunt under the bonnet, you must and I can't stress this enough, you must upgrade your brakes and suspension. Without the upgrades, you will driving a missle that won't stop until the fuel burns out. The stock brakes will fade under heavy breaking, because you won't be driving like a granny after installing the turbo motor, now will you. It would defeat the purpose. I would go as far as saying that you upgrade the brakes and suspension first before transplanting the new engine. Cheers

Thanx for the info. I am thinking of putting everything from a WRX MY01 to my car. Only the chassis will be the original. Is it a good practice? I am just in love with the car, and i dont wanna sell it to buy a new one, but rather let the car "evolve" with the years. One point is reliabilty. With the N/A engine i can go long journeys to Brcko, Novi Sad and there is no problem. But with the turbo i will be more worried. In BiH there is no Subaru workshop that i know of, whereas the one in Beograd is too far. I dont know about Gunja, Osjek parts of Croatia though. Will putting the mechanical machineries of WRX MY01 to my car be risky? Whactha think? Of course the smartest thing is to let the car unmodified, but there's this virus daemon you know that asks for modz!!!

Will putting the mechanical machineries of WRX MY01 to my car be risky? Whactha think? Of course the smartest thing is to let the car unmodified, but there's this virus daemon you know that asks for modz!!! The Impreza and WRX as you know are the same bodies but I know they also share the same chassis. You will not need to modify the chassis. One other thing, if you do go ahead, you are aware that the computer module will also have to be from a WRX. Can't use the old one. If your mechanically minded, Subaru engines are easy to fix and there is plenty of room in the engine bay as it is a flat four after all. Hope you have an intercooler to go with it. Another simple mod is to construct a Cold Air intake which if done properely can add up to 12 kw of power. For your exhaust, first of check what the local db maximum is, install if you call low restriction mufflers. Another potential of up to 12kw of power. Next of course is to locate a power chip to replace the original in the WRX. In its original form, its detuned to buggery. From what I remember, the original WRX power output was approxiametly 150kws. With the Power Chip modification, this can also boost it up to another 30kws without having to make any internal changes to the engine. So you can have a great gain of 50kws to the car which would bring it up to 200kws. More than enough power for a small and light car like the WRX. Obviously if you want to start boosting the power to another 50kws, you have to replace the stock camshafts/heads. Then you can start tweaking the turbo boost as well. From my recolection, the WRX boost running stock is about 4 PSI. It can go to a maximum of 12 PSI without any great modifications, but you would have to replace the blow off valve to suit. I wouldn't recomend you boost up the pressure to 12 PSI as that will shorten the life of the engine. Make sure you have an intercooler as well, more for the summer days than winter. But like I said before, brakes and suspension first, otherwise your flirting with trouble. Cheers. P.S. The turbo engines are just as reliable as the non turbo models. Like with anything, if you maintain it properely, it will almost run for ever. I used to have a Subaru Liberty, tough as nails, engine never missed a beat. Had the car from new and put 173,000 kms in three years. ( Used to travel a lot interstate for business).

^ l agree with that, german engineering (mechanical) is the best......appearently, correct me if l'm wrong, students who study mechanical engineering in german universities, study this course for 8 years right?

I believe you're right Novi, I personally have the new VW Rabbit that they have here in the US, my dad has a '03 Golf V and my brother has a '96 Jetta. Except taking them for oil change and state inspection, we never have engine or any other problem with the cars.

^ I would say the next best product other than German produced cars would possibly be Japanese made and designed ones. I have a friend who works in Toyota here in Australia, and they work long hours....8am to 7pm mon to fri and 8am to 3pm saturdays. He desperately wants to jump ship and join ford, better working hours, nowhere near as long as Toyota.

^ I agree Novi, Japan has to be the next best car producer after Germany. I think Toyota is the number one seller in the US at the moment.
