What is wrong with you? Shqiptars never ruled the Balkans, they've always leeched off of others. You don't even know your own people's history, how sad is that?

Pyrros, when we ruled Balcan and Europe.....Slavs were just our slaves/parasites and nothing more. Dont be ridiculous, History dont start since VII century and everyone know thats slavs invaded/settled in our territory. Of course man, life existed before 6th century and after 9th, thing is that modern albania/greece were empty when the slavs came. I have struggled a lot against this theory, but it is the only explanation. Why both Greeks/Albanians havent had ready toponyms to replace the old slav ones? (like Serbs in Vojvodina replaced the old german toponyms in 7 days?) Why both Greeks/Albs behave like tourists in our own lands? The anti-slav pogroms by the Byzantines against south slavs in the penisula after 9th century is a very well documented fact. Byzantines pushed away the slavs in favor of loyal vlaho-phones christians and by importing albanians from Caucasus. There is nothing Greek or Albanian in the mainland penisula (the seas/seashores were always mostly Greek) from 540 till 800 AD. Nothing. Even Serviana in Peloponese (ancient Olympia!!!) after the Greeks resettled wasn't named Olympia but Antilalos, which means that the locals didnt't have memories of the place. Where Greeks resettled, with a good knowledge of greek languages some toponyms were changed after 1400. In other parts were albos or vlahs were settled (with weaker imagination/ expressive ability and of course poorer language/vocabulary) the Slav toponyms were retained.. (thats why albania and Epiros were full of slav toponyms) But the same is observed (before 1927) in southern Greece as well were mostly ancient greeks resettled (Peloponese). What happened between 9th->13th century in the Greek penisula (albania included) was more or less very similar to what is happening today in Kosovo. Only truth can make Greeks and Albanians surpass our Slav superiors.

your Caucasus theory is a bulls**t even nationalist historians and geographers don't support (Dusan Batakovic, Jovan Cvijic ...). And again, take a look at the Selishev map ... in Northern Albania, there are entire regions were there are litteraly no Slavic toponyms, what about the dense Albanian toponymy in South Montenegro and in the Accursed Mountains in Kosovo ? How do you explain that. You say yourself that Albanians don't have imagination, how is it possible that entire regions in Albania don't have Slavic toponymy if Slavs were everywhere and Albanians don't have imagination and come from Caucasus ? I'll give you the explanation: you're talking BS ! Selishchev book came in 1931 right? I know things in Epirus used to be much more slav-ier before 1927. I am pretty confident that some similar de-slavicization campaign was applied in albania as well. (northern toponyms close to the yugoslav border would raise a much greater liability than south to Greece, so in that case it would be reasonable for the albs to exhaust their "imagination" in the north...) Also i dont know if your supposed non-slavic toponyms are just anxious re-phrasings or just translations of the old slav toponyms, (in which case they would appear as non-slavic in Shelishchev map's). I dont care to examine the albo case in particular, since the greek case does its job very well in giving an insight of what really happened. Albos were never mentioned before 10th century... and your civilization since its appearance in the 10th century has never produced anything worth dealing with. So cut your dardanian megalo-maniac BS and accept your caucasian reality... If you wanna disprove my obvious theory, go find a non-slavic, non-greek toponym in albanian, which was mentioned in some official byzantine document before 10th... take your time ;D

restless, Pavel is a troll.... I don't know if he's a troll, he certainly speaks like he has some sort of a complex with "Europeanness". Like when he told me that I sound like a non-European... Like europeaness is such a big deal after all. I probably sound like a greek, whatever this means. and I agree with andromeda about the whole thread and normally, I shouldn't answer at all...

Its still pathetic though. Not really. At least we base our identity around something feasible. Unlike post-modern internationalists.

^^^ Albanian phonetic?? LMAO!!! is this an argument? No one disputed that you actually *have* a language and can modify any word to sound like albanian : Kosova, Preseva, Dures, Gyrokastra (Argyro-kastron), etc... but the fact that you can actually do that, does not mean a thing to proving some prior albanian presence in the region. "And no, there was not a massive presence of Slavic populations in Albania" It seems slavs were the *only* presence. "or bring me some sources that attest that Albanians changed toponymy in Northern Albania" first, only thing you did was to show me how albanians were able to albify greek-slav-roman toponyms 2nd, its your job to study your country, as its my job to study mine. if you read this paper: www.clas.ufl.edu/users/fcurta/30708.pdfyou will see that there was some latin-roman-byzantine presence in north alb, 7th cent. Some strongholds of roman-vlahs there might be the reason of the preservation of some non-slav (and certainly NON-ALBANIAN) toponyms there... But again this is mere hypothesis, and i dont care to elaborate any further.

I was watching a documentary called "Michael Palin's new Europe" a couple of years ago and, about Albania, he said: "Albania may be in Europe, but culturally they are eastern", or something to that effect. Yet he didn't say that about any other surrounding Balkan country. Yes! I remember now. Michael was with an Albanian group just outside of Tirana and if I recall they had an imam who was taking a goat up a hill to sacrifice it to their god(s) If any can find the clip please post it up (On youtube there is just 1 minute part) Thanks, Pavel !!

These forums as their name implies are about balkans. Andromeda in 10 out of his/her 12 posts in total, deals with this topic, writing things like "After reading a few of the comments I definitely notice the comments are Balkan influenced".
Well dude/dudette are you sure you are on the right forum?

First of all, why is this thread in here? Also, Pavel Chernev, I feel sorry for you. You know why? Clearly something has happened to you and this must have been the cause of an Albanian. There's no other better explanation as to why you are against Albanians. However, if it makes you happy then no Albanians are not European. Greeting from an Albanian Kosovar, who had high respect for Bulgarians and still does.
