First, you should go and destroy all Catholic churches in Croatia!! If you do that, i'll buy you a nice "karlovacko" pivo! Why would I want to destroy the churches? And I already have Karlovacko at home along with Ozuljsko. You said religion is bad, or smth equivalent.... PS as far as the Ozujsko (and not Ozuljsko lol!!) is concerned, i fully understand you, i would do the same in lack of Zajecarcko Pivo (now Efes).

I'm not a fan of religion but it doesn't mean I want to burn down places of worship lol. I'm not totalitarian and actually very libertarian. TBH I don't drink much. Occasionally I buy some imported beer from Croatia or Belgium but usually for get togethers and parties. I never actually tried any Serbian beer. It's good?

ps. It reminds me of Turkish tour operators, showing Swedish tourists the Greek ancient theaters in Asia Minor.. and when a Swedish tourist asked "Isnt it Greek".. the Turk answered "No!! Its from ancient Turks!!" .... and the tourist insists "But the letters on the marbles are Greek..".... the Turk comes back and says "No!! its an unkown form of ancient Turkish"!! Loved it! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Haha, I love how this statue is pissing everyone off. I think there's one more statue being built that will cause some controversy too. Keep an eye out for that one in the future. I don't understand how this comes as a surprise to the media though. This was announced early last year and is in fact shown in the original post of the Skopje 2014 thread I made. Anyway, here is another cool looking picture. I think the woman is the designer or something.

Still curious which direction the statue of the " ancient warrior on horse " is facing From looking at the angles, it seems to be facing west to south-west Macedonia (Berovo or Stip). I can't tell exactly. I don't think it means anything though. The statue seems to be angled that way so it looks good when seen from Kameni Most (Stone Bridge).

Is this what your countrymen get off on? Claiming a Macedonian identity to piss off your neighbors? No wonder the "Macedonian" identity is so fragile and I suppose the statues will strengthen the younger generation's "Macedonian" identity.

The majority of the outside world view the statues as a provocation of some sort a sort of middle finger to Greece. Maybe a statue of of Aristotle will help your nerves.

“By using cheap populism, media manipulation, and abusing the patriotic feelings of the citizens, the current government has been conducting a systematic action, not for preservation or affirmation, but for re-defining our national code and identity,” said President Crvenkovski in a recent debate. “Entire historical eras upon which our identity is founded on and which we should be proud of are being sidestepped or minimized and everything is being tied to only one part of the history: that of ancient Macedonia,” concluded Crvenkovski. www.newropeans-magazine.org/content/view/8947/44/lang,english/

Olympus) f) the city builded to honor his sister (Thessaloniki)?" ........... your answer will be .......... "Ofcourse, we'll organize a road trip with our busses to real Macedonia tommorow!"...? ;D ;D ;D Man, there was a guy named "Nikolaos Politis" who wrote a collection of "greek" fairy tales, oral traditions, etc.... That was around 1900. Apart from the fact that every village seems to have a slavic name (Peloponese, central Greece, Makedonia, only Cyprus/Crete escape the pattern), it also seems that most of the stories come from the lands of the Slavs as well. All fairies, dragons, etc.. seem a cheap nameless copy of the Slavic ones. (The slavic ones are better described, categorized and always bare a name), while in Greek ones, we have "some" dragon, "some" king, etc... It is spectacular, how the locals (mostly in South Greece) speak about an ancient unrelated nation called "Jeleni" (Ellines) how they were huge, and how brave they were.... In some story they talk about some dudes who went to Constantinoupoli to meet some REAL GREEK WOMAN. LOL!!! How she was huge and could break iron bars with bare hands. But this is not everything!!! In some other story from Servia (50 km from your town), they talk about their great Christian King : Marko Kralj!! (Marko Kraljevic!!!) At another occasion, my eyes fell on a greek book with some "newer greek" fairy tales. Most people are surprised, because they think that there are no greek fairy tales. Well, it turned out that at least the first i read was about a fairy which had also a name..... MILICA!!! Do you think this comes from the word "Apple"? Mhlitsa? I damn right dont!!! I think it comes str8 from MILICA!! (Milan, Mile, Milana, Milica). That is the cruel reality my true great makedonian superior greek. So, i guess what you say is correct. Maybe the *real* "makedonia" is in Greece ;D ;D ;D

I for one love the statue. Good job Macedons. I wish they could build a statue like that of Skanderbeg in Tirana's main square.
