I saw Stardust recently fantastic film, I enjoyed it much better than golden compass. Saw I am legend.. tbh I hated it.. seems liked a psychologically focused version of 28 days later, and some parts really annoyed me, eg: the part where the infected dogs attack w.smith and his dog, why didn't the infected man go in for the kill at that point? too slow moving for me.. Man I saw Heartbreak kid, very funny movie, superbad was really funny too, ı lmao at that one.

"Golden Compass" was not good. "Stardust" was OK. "Superbad" was funny a bit, and "Heartbreak Kid" was a classical Stiller movie, and it was OK. I really liked "No Country for Old Men". "Before the Devil Knows You are Dead" was really cool. Persepolis was just fine. "The Assassination of Jesse James" was good, and "4 Months 3 Week 2 Days" was quite good. "Rendition" was watchable, "Juno" was OK. T. Burton's "Sweeney Todd" was really good musical. "Gone Baby Gone" was interesting. "Jane Austin Book Club" was a good surprise. "Atonement" was ok to watch.

We have been discussing the movie with Anittas in the Romania forum, but let me tell you what I think about the movie in this thread too:
I must say that Coen Bros might not have paid much attention on the "Bad Guy" on purpose. After all, they did not even show as whether bad guy killed the red neck opportunist's wife or not. So, "the bad guy" was only one of the bad guys who was better than others in some aspects, just like in the classical Western movies. This time the Good Guy was not like the former ones, and the violence was not entirely for money, honor or vendetta. The movie draws a new brand new picture of the American West that are stuck with stuff like drug trafficking, illegal immigration, sadistic murders, merchandise of guns, injustice, suspicion, lack of honor. In that regard, the movie outlines a pessimistic picture of US compared to the ones pictured in old Western movies. In the end, the bad guy has a car accident, and the kids discuss how to share the money that the guy offered them in exchange for the shirt. In fact, "Before the Devil" plays with the similar ideas, and both of them draw some realistic picture of the contemporary USA.

"Golden Compass" was not good. Do you think there will be a sequel to Golden Compass ? Judging from the ending of the movie to which just ended so un-expectingly.

"Old men" suffered in the end only because the Coen brothers, who directed the film, decided to go along page by page with the original book. Which really has nothing to do with all the other characters in the story. The money was stolen by the Mexicans, led by the Mexican who in the brown suit, towards the end, was catering to the blond or bimbo the cowboy, Brolin, was hooking with when she invited him for a drink later on in her room. These Mexicans and the bimbo, killed Brolin, took his millions and you saw them in that big pick up truck hollering and hooting as they made a turn speeding off when Tommy Lee Jones was about to enter the motel to search it out from his tip.
There was no rhyme or reason for the ending, except it went by the original book s ending, and made it more perplexing for everyone else watching it. Brolins wife/girlfriend was killed by that killer eventually but that made no beans neither here or there. But, that killer still never got the money, which was also his goal. Also, Jone s cop character was really shallow. He gets to the crime scene, sits, looks at it and then leaves...doesn t even bother to search it out, like those other motel rooms.
So, yes, it does lose alot of points in the category of common sense and yes it should lose out completely to There Will Be Blood...better film altogether.

Thanks Tripwire.... one thing I noticed when the shooting took place, in the motel near the end where the Bimbo was.... there was someone in the pool dead with lotsa of blood..I think they killed the bimbo too..

I recently watched "Dedication", "Michael Clayton" and "Into the Wild". I enjoyed the movies, particularly "Into the Wild", it was long, but it sometimes felt like reading a Jack London book.

While this movie is not new I only saw it a few days ago and it was terrifing and disturbing, I am talking about the Movie "Open Water" that would be my ultimate nightmare. And its based on a true story.
