Personally I also feel closer to other Slavs than to non-slavs , at least culturally and obviously linguistically. My gf is primarily of Slovak heritage but also some Polish and Czech mixed in there ( overall majority Slavic heritage) and I can notice a natural bond between us as if she was of 'my people' than with maybe a Greek person or something.

I was always curious how many actual Slavs penetrated the Balkans and how far south did they actually settle. There are conflicting views. Some believe , such as the Aadmin on this forum, that the Slavs were genetically of very little influence and that linguistic traits do not siginify genetic ones. Others , such as historian John V.A. Fine believe that several large waves of Slavs settled in the Balkans and either assimilated or displaced the more native population and they went as far south as the heart of Greece. It is hard to believe a non imperial group such as the Slavs were able to assimilate so many natives with just a small base population in the Balkans. For Croats carrying "Slavic" R1a haplogroup how have different chart in the site I provided, you mostly belong to the Carpathian sub-branch

Its maximum frequency can be found in Central Europe(eg. Germany) than in eastern Slavic countries. 1. There is no proof that it is recent in Greece(at least most of it) and came from modern Slavs(as nothing new has be added to the Greek DNA the last 3000 years). 2. As we said its frequency is very small in Greece and almost insignificant. Crete= 9% R1a.
Aegean islands= 10% R1a.www.eupedia.com/europe/european_y-dna_haplogroups.shtmlAre these frequencies of R1a to these islands also from modern Slavs? Also you didn't answer to my question...where is the proof about that? Old Greeks were very dark, certainly more darker than modern ones. Read that too: Pan-Slavismen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pan-Slavism

It is hard to believe a non imperial group such as the Slavs were able to assimilate so many natives with just a small base population in the Balkans. Fine, Curta, all of them are amateurs. You gotta ask uncle Pyrro about this. I have registered more slavic toponyms in south greece than Max Vasmer. Something tells me, that there are some russian sources (not disclosed to the public) who know even more than uncle Pyrros. The rest of you slavs (croats, serbs, bulgarians, ....) politically are dead meat in the balkans... Apart from some Croats/Serbs some 100 yrs ago, no one had any intention to find the plain truth in the balkans... You respected everyone, and then everyone came to fuck you, so you ended up fucking each other... Anyways, there are slavic toponyms in the southest parts of greece, and also in Crete island as well (Bulgarian, Croatian, Russian). Now, your question is a very legitimate one : HOW MANY SLAVS??? And in what proportion with the local population? I have stated my theory many times : either a) slavs were ULTRA-numerous but inferior or b) few but culturally superior there is no other way that they gave name to every rock/river/stone in the balkans, and also that any living folklore literature is 100% slavic (Greeks/Albs have nothing, really) Not surprisingly, both a) and b) above contradict the current trend who wants to downgrade slavs as much as possible... Some people use a) whenever fit, others use b)... But in essence, both a) and b) is a show-stopper for any anti-slav. Just mt 2 cents, feel free to comment.

They are tiny minority in Serbia, but of course they live in other countries Rusinski is the 4th language in Vojvodina, after Serbian, Hungarian, Slovak. Its a really charm to see all those 3 slavic tangs together in Novi Sad... to compare Rusini to Serbian, the declensions, and also to Slovak, its magic
