How would you say "hello" in ancient macedonian... zdravevski? no, i would say Zdravo, just like the Macedonian minority in Aegean Macedonia does... In ...(Aegean... ) Macedonia there isn't any Macedonian minority. There is a Macedonian majority , and for hello they say yeia or hairete... "Zdravo" has more to do with Russias and Croatias than Makedonia and Makedonians... PS. skase minara pyrrovski.

Zdravo everyone. I am new to the forum. By way of introduction, I am a Macedonian with roots from the Republic of Macedonia. I notice alot of discussion here about my homeland, most of which is from non-Macedonians. Despite all the set backs (embargoes, wars, blockades etc), R. Macedonia has survived 20 years of independence. We are an independent Slavic state, with roots in ancient history. Whilst our language is a Slavic and related to both Serbian and Bulgarian, our blood lines combine Slavic and non-Slavic (ancient Macedonian, Germanic and other) elements. To all the enemies of R. Macedonia - I say F*CK YOU, we are here to stay!! SO PUSHKA VO RAKA I MAKEDONIA VO SRCE! How would you say "hello" in ancient macedonian... ;D zdravevski?

My "fear"(I mean hope and certainty) is that these nice peaceful demonstrations would end in a few days. Its not the Greek style to gather in places and make noise with casseroles...

However, there are some real blanks here... First of, it is clear that my father's ancestors were albanian, no doubt about that but why did they choose to come to Turkey? I know there was the 2nd Balkan war going but they chose to come to Turkey? seriosly why? They had not attachments to turkey since they were turkish or turkish speakers. . Because being muslim back then within the Ottoman Empire, made you automatically an Ottoman a Turk(as people called before the politically "correct" terminology came into fashion...). Muslims, be them Albanian, Bosnak, Pomak, Turkokretan etc, saw themselves primary as non-reayas , and if that meant that this is against people with the same origin, language, customs etc wasn't a big deal... Albos were lucky not to have borders near Turkey's(as they ended after the Balkan Wars) because , if it wan't the case then the whole Arnavutluk would be proud Turkish citizens today.... my family history isn't that complicated...Peloponnesos x 4....

How do you know that he was called Bardhylli... Greek historians and writers tended to hellenized foreign names in order not to have barbarian like words in their texts. Is there any ...illyrian text( lol) referring to him...? he could be called Brdul, or Bradyl, or Bradil or something like that...

What do we asimilojne? If there are people vlachophones or albanophones with fragile national identity that live in a tourkalbanian environment you should expect people to want to hellenize themselves... The next wave of hellenizers papayiannises are on the making... be aware of the Greek bearing gifts...

A classic piece, ca 5th century. A krater. From the Greek influenced Italic town of Pompeii. A kylix, 5-4th century BC Archaic period krater. Middle Byzantine pottery. Probably from around 8th to 10th century AD, usually depicting heroes like Digenis Akritas. That piece seems from Archaic period too, 800-480, i'll guess 6th century BC. Non Greek. Whats this?
