Some info about Greek minority in Albania

If everything you claim were to be true, how come Albania recognizes the fact that it is not a one hundred per cent ethnically homogenous country, thereby recognizing its linguistic & ethnic minorities, including the Greek community of Dropull? Whereas Greece continues to maintain and propagate the illusion that it has no minorities whatsoever, with the exception of a "religious minority" in Thrace ... who are just Muslim "Greeks", right?

K last time Greece provoked us was in 97. It sent lots of brigades on our southern border with the goal of entering Albania during the unrest. Turkey brings equilibrium to the Balkans. Their prime minister at the time stated that if one greek soldier steps foot in Albania, you are going to see Turkish airplanes over Athens. This was in all the papers at that time. By the way I'm catholic so your usual religious $hit doesn't work here.

Prior to that the Greek army provoked Albania by sending its troops across our borders in the 60's. No B$ needed my father and my grandfather were on the other side of the border (Albania's side) They saw the Greek troops. This lasted for 2-3 days. We had our MIG's transferred on our side of the border because of that and a general draft.

Fact of the matter is that in Greece there is a vocal extremist group often encouraged by your government , especially when we have elections, that have wet dreams about starting a conflict with us. Given the chance people like Arxileas or Karta would jump at the chance of causing some $hit in our state.

Also the term you greeks use, Turkalbanian, is provocative. No open minded person believes in using extremest terms like this. Its like Albanians using the term grekopederast when referring to Greeks.

P.S If you want dates about the time when that happened in the 60's lemme know. I will ask. If you also want more stories about the horrible crimes Greeks caused around the Korca and Pogradec region during WWII lemme know. My grandfather tells me of them from time to time. He lived it.

The problem is not if somebody has a minority or not.. the problem is why you see that minority as a danger. What are the reasons that made you see it as a thread for your safety. Here we come in the chapter of "easy manipulation"
In other words.. no Greek governemt or CIA can make me hate simple peasant minoritans in Greece. How it comes and it is sooo easy to do it with you? Most propably we go again in the

Leshte.. we have a problem; What can I anwser to a Turk peasant deep in the heart of Anadolou that he heard from his grandfathers that Greeks during the war were eating the fleshes of the babies? I believe you understand there is a problem in the future discussion with him..
In our case now... lesthe... Greece had never any intentions to invade in Albania! I dont care what your controled from US media was saying... I dont care what your PM was saying to you... but for sure if a country is ready for war.. the citizens, means me, KNOW IT!
Since I was born,Its only one case Greeks were ready for war and that was with Turkey. Media start promotin the usual hate, citizens were being prepared to dressed in uniforms, the public sector was getting ready for war etc etc etc. That is how you prepared to have a war.
In 1997.. in Greece, the only news we had from Albania was the incidents inside Albania. In 1997 the only move we make was to go with more force to drink beers in beach bars. The word "war" was not mentioned NOT even ONCE in Greece.
Also.. you have to start thinking as an EU member. You soon will become one. Start preparing!

Yougoslav Partizans slaughtered many Nazi's during WW2.
Greeks were after many many Chams after the end of WW2.
Polish were after many many German citizens in Poland after WW2.

Crime is when you go to a different country and start killing innocent civilians. When others ATTACK you country and you fight back... is not called crime... its called defence regardless how cruel it is! To remind you... Italia attacked Greece through... Albania! That is how it is so easy for Albanian immigrants to get into Greece. Policemen, even today, are more in the borders with Albania, Fyrom and Bulgaria than the soldiers..

Actually, you spoke of exaggerations, and that we Albanians supposedly exaggerate more than you. Then I asked you why, if such is the case, Albania recognizes its linguistic and ethnic minorities, while Greece does not? Don't try to avoid this question, simply answer it, since you're supposedly much more progressive, enlightened and tolerant than we are.

And who is "we"? I for once do not see the Greek minority in Albania as a danger. Partly because the age when the borders could still be disputed and re-arranged, is over, and Albania is integrating into the euro-atlantic structures of which Greece is part of; already a member of Nato, and perhaps, soon, a member of EU. And secondly, because the Greek minority is too small to actually pose a real separatist threat. They're one per cent of Albania's population, and make up a really significiant percentage only in the district of Dropull.

So, they're not "dangerous" by any means. On the other hand, the one sided good treatment and recognition of linguistic and ethnic minorities is a little mind-boggling, especially when you see Greeks continue to claim mistreatment by Albanian authorities, some even going so far as to claim that "Northern Epirus" is comparable to Kosova, is a sign of great hypocrisy from your side.

Promote all you want. The many contributions of the Hellenistic world happened in the more southern fringes of your modern country. Epirus was dismissed by contemporaries as "barbarian" and "wild". If the territory was Greek as you say in antiquity, your forefathers don't seem tp have been so kean on keeping it, so they left it to us. Ehhh, Basil that was typical of you. You dodge every issue. Fact of the matter is that in the Korca and Pogradec area there are no Cams. Hence your BS about following Chams is just BS. The Greek army bombed and shelled houses and civilians. This was all about enlarging territory from the Greek side. If you don't want to enlarge territory you stop on your own border and defend your country from there. You don't go to another country and kill civilians burn their houses and rape women. That was the Greek army in WWII. It is interesting because in 1912 when we were trying to achieve our independence the Greek army was doing the same in the Korca and Pogradec area. Guess what? There were no Italians back then.

As for the other incidents where the Greek army was ready and send brigades in the border they interestingly occurred when we got out of the Warsaw Pact (no allies at that time), and when our state was non-functional in 1997. What a coincidence.

As to extremist like Karta and Arxileas; these types of people are very dangerous to the peace and prosperity of the region. What Greeknes is there with 1% of the population being Greeks. Yet they lie about the oppression of Greeks. We have Greeks in our parliament, ministers in our government, in our ministries, in our city governments and in every walk of life. We have Greek schools that remain open for 4 kids. Our minority Greeks own businesses and land. On the other hand you wear an Albanian Jersey in Greece and they kill you. Wtf are you talking about then. Fact of the matter is that extremists in Greece are encouraged often by their government or specific ministers to stir $hit whenever possible and harm peace between the two countries (follow the elections these year. I guarantee you they will stir $hit again). We had a Greek priest just a couple of years ago in Albania who kept spreading propaganda about the split and taking over of Albanian lands all the way up to the Shkumbin river from the Greek government. (Remember Greeks make up about 1% of out population. You can't even fill your Olympic stadium in Athens with the Greek minority in Albania.)The Greek church didn't do $hit about it. Why was such a person allowed to work for them? Because they want tension. It wasn't only until he was declared persona non-grata that he was made leave the country. For all I know he might still work for your church. The problem is not the existence of such extremist elements as they exist everywhere. The problem is the the fact that the Greek society not only tolerates them but defends them and the government and church often aids them.
