By the way Ioan - I don't think the FYROM or SW Bulgaria as you put it belongs there in the poll. It's like putting in this list Varna region or Vratsa region as separate country ....

Its a shame we Balkaners fight like cats and dogs but until the historic issues are addressed, some one will always be unhappy and unsatisfied, and there is nothing wrong with that -to respect the others and be friend with them is one thing,to respect the history -is another.why history is so important??? here i ll give you one possible reason--becouse the historical past of the people forme the predominant part of theyr present day mentality. this applies to the serbian case too.... in begining of 19 century while every bolkan nations developed theyr ideas for national liberation and unification, serbs ,on theyr turn ,developed several ideas for local federations, south slavic unifications ..and so on ...all those projects had something incommen- they had to be realized under serbian domination. this was an imperialistic attitude on local level actually.big part of those imperialistic plans serbs realized lately using decisive help of the great powers...so -in the last 80 years many of them believed they are nation blessed by the god.this belief and this mentality provoced the yugoslavian tragedy from 90s... can you follow me in this guys--it s like a chain.one thing leads to another so practicly modern day yugoslavian drama is the final collapse of the serbian imperialsm from 19 century.now the reformation of the serbian consciousness is in process too.it will take time.this doesnt concern the serb participants of this forum-they are mostly from usa and aus as i can see-they arent typical representatives of the serbian nation regards Well said but, and the same can be said about Bulgaria and Macedonia, almost every Balkan nation has a territorial and ethnic grievance because of the lack of hegemony in the Balkans. For these issues to be solved, all Balkan nations got to sit down on big table without non Balkan nations and figure this out in a peaceful and rational manner for the economic and political stability and future of the Balkans. Letting this fix it self only leads to festering hostilities that will foment at some point in time, Kosovo is a perfect example, that mine will be stepped on in the future.

Ioan, I just remembered a post of Cognate who once pointed out that we do have a neighbour which historically has always been a friend of ours. In short, you should have included the Black sea in your poll. The Black Sea was your best friend before you developed the habit of wading waist deep off the beach in Slanchev Bryag, putting on an innocent face and peeing in it.

I voted for Romania. Romanian-Bulgarian relations have improved since Hristo "Cockmongler" Stoicikov resigned and stopped throwing sh*t at Romania's name. although the romanian troops were destroyed soon after the attack Yes, but they were not "destroyed" by the Bulgarian army, but by a cholera outbreak started by a soldier from Moldavia (Anittas knows).

My Bulgar friend Cognate, the purpose of this thread is to find out who is our best neigbour, not what you use when your stomach is troubled. It is undoubtedly a matter of massive importance but please open a separate topic to share your health issues. Thank you.

Its the other way around with our brainwashed blood relatives from southwest.

;D Actually if the next one is girl - she will have the name Pagane! No joke! I think its strong and beautiful name. If its a boy - he will be Atan ;D. You know Ruse - I start believing in fate my friend. As you might remember I don't like the Greeks much - guess what - my wife has Greek blood and relatives in Greece ! I didn't like the Romanian cars - this Dacia thing. But now I have bought Dacia and I must admit - the car is good enough for its money. Its true what old people say - vsi4ko se vry6ta ;D! Well - considering the topic I would propose whoever votes to explain why he/she voted that way. It would be the fairest I guess.....

Look, Sin, you could have married a Romanian girl and bought a Greek car. Not that there is something wrong with Romanian girls, it is just the Greek car... ;D So don't talk about destiny It is always like that with polls. Plenty of anonymous voters

You people talking about how "they took land from us so their not friendly" are completely missing one thing: these were done between nations and hardly involve us. Yea I know, we all like to believe that somehow are nations are our will, but it really isnt that much the truth. I mean, when a Bulgarian meets a Serb here will he say 'well your a good friend, but not as good a friend as the Romanian because you took land from us at this time' or 'your king attacked our nation at this time'? Of course not. These actions rarely are the byproduct of the people within the nations, we are just given enough propaganda to create these ideas and give the leaders justification for these actions...
This whole discussion is pointless, we will ultimately deal with people as individuals not as nations. A Bulgarian might be best friends with a Turk under given circumstances and a Serb with an Albanian. All that matters is the character of the given person... we are not diplomats or spokespersons, we are individuals and each of our faces are our own...
Sorry if my idea is messed up, its 4 am where I am and I just finished writing a paper for the last 6 hrs.
