PEACE Lan Yahac I don't have a problem . ;D I was just stressing the relationship of the Republic of Turkey and the Ottoman Empire in legal terms because there seemed to be some controversy in the past pages. I'm trying to be as active as I can, mate. I just wanted to stress out that "aaaaaaaaahhhhaaaahahaha" was not the word I expected towards my thoughts from a person who was supposed to be a socialist.

Nice topic Desire.
And I totally agree with u. the thing is that local population was used to milet system just from the previous similar emperor. The Byzantine one. It was not quite called millet system back then, but it was the same national absorbing identities with multi ethnic background. And of course for some people in the region, to come here in the Balkans meant fighting other people which already were staying here. This is almost for every nation around, thats why u should also understand why are we fighting all the way for national background. Now turks being quite new as nation or tribes arrivals etc does not have or share the same issue. But its ok, and u have nothing to be ashamed of. Nor should u take the responsibilities of Ottoman empire.
This time is like a photo of all the times, and politics have photographised turks as the "bads". (im sorry if I have a wrong impression) 50 years ago zee germans were the bads 5000 b.c some hellenes were bads against trojans etc. This how the route of history goes.
In order the guys to really understand what was going on back then, should wash out the useless propaganda which we have been feeding ourselves. At some time we MUST do that, but maybe now is not that proper time. I have this impression by rating what people say, or the reasons behind the sayings...
I also have pointed out that sometimes the past can be used in a negative way, just for excuse. Killing innocent people has no excuse, at least to me.

Legally modern Turkey is the successor to the Ottoman Empire AND they should take responsibility for the confiscation of religious property and the slaughter of millions of people. Because it was the founders of modern Turkey that were mainly responsible for the violence perpetrated on Ottoman Christians.

When Turkey wiped out all of its Christian population, I believe they spoiled every single chance they had to be a part of the western community. I think that if there were still Greeks and Armenians in Turkey they would most likely be a part of the E.U.

Turkey doesn't need to be a part of EU. I hope we withdraw our candidacy. Turkey is an unique country that needs to maintain its rich identity. Let the European folk mix and assimilate. That is their business. We are too precious to waste our potential like that...
PEACE

Actually, you should have expected that when you express such thoughts. Besides I don't really adhere to ideology anymore. I think it is wiser to keep the things that make sense and reject the trash.
