LMAO and what villages might these be? actually the "phaenomenon" u state is not true, Americans are a mix of everything...but many of them r also fat and not so "healthy" looking...to better illustrate my point, i met an Asian who admited her parents r first cousins, and besides looking "normal" she was actually hot. in other words Zadi Boshnjak is right and ur wrong, what u say is a long shot to happen even between cousins.

Serb villagers live by the rule that you're not allowed to marry anyone from your village. I don't know if that's the rule all over Serbdom but it definitely is in (central) Bosnia. In fact from what I've seen, Serbs are borderline insane when it comes to not marrying cousins. Genetically speaking, there is nothing wrong with marrying your 1st cousin as long as you only share a single ancestor (or 2 ancestors with a 2nd cousin) yet Serbs are generally afraid of marrying their 10th cousin regardless of how many ancestors they share. Serbs must have gotten that mentality after they saw what inbreeding had done to the local Muslim population but I assure everyone here that the fear mongering is wrong and your kids won't have 12 toes if you marry your 2nd cousin. That said, I don't know who would wish to marry their cousins since I don't see any of my cousins other than extended siblings. Most cultures have cousin marriages for financial reasons.

I wasn't just talking about ethnicity zgembo, but nationality also. Technically (and this is on paper) I have 3 nationalities. Now wouldn't you think I would be the most confused person? No I'm not because I choose to embrace them all.
Anyway seems like most here would rather marry their cousins to keep the tradition going...it still happens. My Iraqi friend (who ISN'T muslim), his nephew is marrying his first cousin. It's sick really but hey it's legal to do it even in Australia.

You can embrace them all because they are all so similar. Now, if you were half African (for example), you would be pretty confused because Croats wouldn't accept you as a Croat. I might be off topic now though so I apologise, I've lost track of what people are arguing about.

Are you serious Croatian is same as Bosnian and Australian? Gdje ti zivis bolan???
It doesn't matter if someone else doesn't accept you, the main thing is that you have to like and accept yourself. Who needs to be a part of made up racist groups anyway ? ? ?

No I'm not because I choose to embrace them all. What the hell are you talking about? I also have 3 nationalities/citizenships (and I could have 5 considering that my family is originally from Montenegro and my dad was born in Croatia). That doesn't present internal dilemmas. It was all one country before and my parents emigrated to another. Everyone in this forum has at least two nationalities. Anyone can gain another nationality by moving to a foreign country. If you are born with conflicting ethnicities and races, it's quite another thing. If you marry someone of a different ethnicity or race it presents a whole host of challenges. That is the purpose of this thread. It's straight up ridiculous that you, a descendant of Ustasha emigrants to Australia, would even think that the two are similar. You seem to live in a seriously deluded world.

Are you serious Croatian is same as Bosnian and Australian? I didn't say the same, I said similar. And Aussies would accept you as one of their own because you have a fair complexion. But you're right, you only have to like yourself.

moral of the story, if the couple is happy then be it...
The absolute prerequisite in a marriage is not ethnicity or nationality but the compatibility of personalities. Of course religion and politics can screw a marriage, but other factors, like jealousy, drinking, beatings, verbal violence are more harmful.

Strongly against it all, not with-in Balkan countries and certainly not with Asians, blacks and others (suicide).
Though, i can see why Ex-yugo's would inter-marry more since you have many cultural things in common.

Nikola the way we are brought up here is in no way similar to back home...again gdje si ti lol znam da si u melbourne isto ali malo pamet :-)
Nice post pyrros.
Zgembo I did not say they were similar nation and ethnicity is always something here at the forum that I have differentiated. In any case it's also disputable that we are of different ethnic stock as we are now of nationality. Please also retract your comment you made about being a decendant of Ustashe. My father or mother were not, otherwise I will make a formal complaint to admin again about you and other's here making irrelevant personal attacks against myself. Grow up for once, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all.

I think they got it seeing priests raping their own kids, and seeing the result, as the ulama had to make a fatwa permitting Bosniaks to inter-mix freely with each other as marriages within family has always been alien to Bosniaks, and abhorred by the Bosniak ulama.

Nikola the way we are brought up here is in no way similar to back home...again gdje si ti lol znam da si u melbourne isto ali malo pamet :-) I know that culturally, Aussies are quite different but my point is that the reason YOU can choose to embrace being an Australian without any worries is because you will be accepted by the Aussies since you are racially "white" in their eyes. If you simply act like them, they will see you as one of their own. It isn't quite as easy for darker Balkan people. Anyway, like I said, I don't even know what we are arguing about anymore. I'm not against inter-ethnic marriages but I have nothing against people who choose to marry only with their own kind.
