How are inter-ethnic marriages viewed in Serbia? Do people look down upon Marko Jaric for marrying outside of his culture? How about marriages between Serbs and Croats and/or Bosnians?

From my experience, people find stuff like that interesting. Like having a German grandmother or a Brazilian mother. My friend has Romanian grandparents but has grown up in Belgrade. People find that kind of unique and cool more than anything else. Our royal family probably has more English blood than Serbian right now, but people would not care about that. Someone like Adriana Lima would be adopted as a local really quickly if she ever moved to Serbia.
Marrying a Bosnian Muslim or Croat is a little different. Maybe the kids will be teased a bit, but if they consider themselves Serbian no one will care. It all depends on their frame of mind. If they bash Serbs and Serbia, and have a Muslim or Croat as a parent, they will probably be called out and insulted based on that.
Generally Serbs are very liberal as far as this stuff is concerned, but it all depends on how those people treat other Serbs and Serbia in general. We are receptive to foreigners if they act respectfully towards us and our culture. We are very tolerant of minorities if they respect out country. People wouldn't think that because of tensions with Albanians with regards to Kosovo (but those Albanians never respected our country, while there are 30 other minority groups in Serbia who live very freely and in harmony save for some isolated post-war incidents usually caused by refugee Serbs).

I don't really approve of it. With Bosnians and Croats its different because were virtually the same people but I really dislike it when Serbs marry Germans or any other Westerners for that matter. I think Serbs should marry (and have kids with) other Serbs. Period.

Are/were there Inter-Ethnic Marriages between Serbs and Albanians? In the forums I've never come across anybody with Serb/Albanian background, while there are many with Serb-Croat background.

From my experience, what zgembo said doesn't mean anything. "If the kids consider themselves Serbian no one will care" is kind of obvious, but what if the kid doesn't consider himself Serbian?
It's no better for Bosniaks. Marriages between Bosniaks, Croats and Serbs aren't really something that's looked good upon, at least now. Saying "it all depends on how they view Serbs and Serbia" doesn't mean anything, or actually, it means everything and nothing, it means that marrying a Serb/Bosniak/Croat that has strong cultural ties to his ethnicity rarely ends up good. To my experience, there has never been a marriage where strong 2 national prides co-exist. Most of the times such families end up being "yugos", or more simply, the kids and the family in general end up "adopting" the nationality where they live.
I won't comment on Serbian respect of other cultures.

I dont really mind who people choose to marry, its their choice. lawl no they dont The current Crown Prince has mixed blood from all over europe like all royal families but no way its majorly english. The english blood they have actually came from before they were exiled through other dynasties so it isnt a question of now anyways. www.royalfamily.org/descent/stablo.htm

If they aren’t purebred Serbs then they have questionable loyalties (this concerns all hybrids, not just the Royals), especially since they lived in exile most their lives.
But then again you have guys like Bobby who tend to be more patriotic than some purebred Serbs.

They've done more for Serbs then either me or you or anyone here have. Putting loads of money to hospitals, schools, refugees, the sick and challenged and other charity causes. Kralj Petar I lived in exile most his life before becoming king and turned out to be one of our greatest kings ever so having a western education doesnt hurt.

I don't know how they are viewed in Serbia, but in the diaspora, it seems like they are somewhat critical of it... Sure everyone's nice, but behind your back they do talk about it. They just like to talk apparently. My family has never really had that many problems (a few minor things here and there - e.g. my friend calling me "Serb" as an insult.. lol), and I personally have never really been involved in the Croatian community much (aside from Church).. I only have one or two Croatian friends anyways...
But regardless, my parents decided to hide the fact that I was half-Serb so: -I could fit into the Croatian-Canadian community (which I really can't say I cared much about) -and frankly because they were embarrassed.
I only found out I was half Serb in my early teens. I remember crying the night they told me.

You'll have to forgive me for not being born with a silver spoon in my mouth. We don't all have money to throw around in order to make ourselves popular among the masses.

Grrr.. accidentally deleted my post. Croats != Bosniaks But really though, all Serbs and Bosniaks in Bosnia are true Croats, so I guess I could say I'm full Croat.

HAHA!! In Bosnia there has always been at least 5 Serbs for every Croat (10 Serbs for every Croat during the 1800s) so your belief doesn't make sense because if it did then Croats would have always been the majority in Bosnia. Understand? You're a Serb so get over it.
