You talk of Ottomans but more than 200 years has passed since Ottomans moved out and 100 years since Austro-Hungarians moved out of Vojvodina. Add to that equation Serbia and Yugoslavia were first to embrace stupid, the least useful things and last to embrace postive, the most useful things.
first and last compared to who? and stupid / positive like ?? examples?
Compared to most other European countries. Other day I was going by bus and some woman was talking to a man how "women in Sochi, Russia are stupid, they drink vodka all day long" and I was thinking "yeah, you're right, you're smarter because you're a wealthy businesswoman who drives custom made 500k USD Ferrari, wearing 20k USD Rolex around her wrist and lives in a mansion in Dedinje". Luckily the man she was talking to didn't took her for serious. Most Serbs can talk of other countries and political decisions when they have a full understanding and properly deal with most basic problems like urban infrastructure, sewer networks, public transportation, judiciary system, education system, crime and police, etc. You know the most basic building blocks of one civilization. |

And in England most ppl think that Serbs are 3m tall monsters who eat alive bosniak and albanian babies, so? In Greece/Athens they don't even talk. They bark like wild animals, and the loudest of the pack (the alpha male) prevails over the others.

Dont laugh. A palestenian friend of mine whose relatives were killed by the same forces who kill Slavs, was deeply convinced that Serbs committed crimes against the Muslims.

Except they are in tribal society, in every regard. If someone tomorrow decides to wipe them out they wont be able to do a thing. That's the way Balkans is. There is no progress. They is no understanding for situation they are stuck into. There is no respect for your neighbor. I could probably write an article here. And no, I wasn't talking of Slavs. Most of the Slavs or those who consider themselves and understand who Slavs are would never allow themselves to reach such humiliation the Balkanians have. Also not every South Slav is Balkanian, but most are. |

most non gotho-saxons are in the same state. Yeah even Portugal and Spain. (whom i DEEPLY respect and consider top notch). About humiliation ... one word ... Ukraine... saxans slaughter them en masse, still they wait for mama west to tech them western values.... And they fell with minimal western bullets ...
Jugo, fell after a GIAGANTIC westo operation.... Not only I find this the most strong and heroic stance ever, I am sorry for not being a jugoslav.
Now, talking about neighbors?  ? they care in London??? in .... ATHENS??? come on...
When I left SOFIA/BULGARIA I funken cried ... so much soul so much humanism .... never happened this in a westo-greeko place...

Man, I don't know what any Balkan country could sell to them. Crops? Milk? Milk in Balkans is full of aflatoxin. There is no quality control laboratories. Those that produce quality products sell directly to Italy or Germany. They don't bother selling to poor regions in Middle East. Sadly those that make quality products are few. |

There is no respect for law and order in the Balkans - this is what sets us back most of all. People steal from the bottom all the way to the top and there's no accountability. What takes Zagreb or Beograd 10 years to build would take the Dutch 8 months. Not because they're smarter or better skilled but because there's accountability for not meeting deadlines and achieving certain standards.
The stuff people get away with daily in Serbia and Croatia,Bulgaria,(Albania is off the charts), Greece and even Italy for the most part would never happen in the West.

easy to say, but in order to retain a proper organizational status the cost would sky-rocket. People in Greece talk in a similar fashion. They think that organization and procedures can come from the sky like a gift from God and are maintenance free. Hard reality is that in order to maintain a certain level of bureaucracy (standards, certifications, legislations, regulations, etc) it is a enormous business in itself. You need more than double the people to handle and manage that. In Greece in private sector, we don't have anything of this. In Croatia/Poland they implemented GDPR since 2017, in Greece we whistle like it didn't happen, and nobody touches us ( (not so) strangely). We work with minimal costs. And all is good as long as you are small. As you grow procedures are smth not to live without. And there it is where balkans cannot naturally make it. It wouldn't make international sense.
