butchering the English language isnt as bad as writing saint like this ----> "shen" on Easter!! waht do u mean Voskopoja was a vlach center but didn't have any vlachs in it? how can the 1st exist without the 2nd?? by the way tehere were vlachs in Voskopoja, there still r today, one of Korca's famous singers Eli Fara is vlach not to mention other famous Albanians from Korca with vlach heritage. like Mysia said vllah in Albania means brother. and thats waht we consider vlachs in Korca  we dont see them as different from other Albanians. no u said he had a Greek wife and had Greeks working for him taht did not maek him pro-Greek as i already said. it's all very simple don't talk abou things u dont know taht well wehn others have lived threw it...reading abou something and haviegn a family member tell u about it are completely different. besides i doubt u read anything taht isnt from a biased source. Ali Pashe Tepelena became an enemy of Ortodox Chrsitians especially those from Korca the day he destroyed Voskopoja. end of. but taht doesent mean he was a bad leader, maybe ur too simpel minded to understand taht u dont have to consider someone a hero to admit they wre a good leader.

Donnie i see Ekrem Cabej on your avatar, few days ago i got the letters that Eqrem Cabej sent to my fathers sisters husband who died some years ago, he was in letter exchange with him for many many years.

Respect. Your aunt's husband must have been an intellectual and a fan of linguistics. I wish Cabej was alive, he was trully a giant of his time, and his knowledge on the Albanian language ... it would have been my wish to be able to speak or write to him ... What were the nature of the letters? About the Albanian language or related to smth else? |

If i were in power, I'd build a pan-albanian university for all our lands and name it Eqerem cabej. It would be state funded for all the best minds of our nation.......dream Ermir dream

I will scan few of them for you since you are a big admirer of Cabej, they were in letter excange for many years and my aunts husband was in Folklore field and very intelectual man and a great patriot that serbs have persecuted along with my grand father that was captured for 10 years and my own father and my uncles, i will post few scans of few post cards, the letters are from 1975 and 1979,at that time there were big control about every single move that went from Albania <-> Kosova, he had so much vluable material that my family members had to hide and destroy because at one time the houses of my relatives were searched from time to time |

Sepse analizon Shqiperine e tanishme ne menyre te shkelqyer. I've only read "Kulla e Sahatit" (about the destruction wrought on by the communist on Tirana's old city-center/bazaar) from him and a bunch of essays but he's usually spot on a lot of the things he writes about. He's also a linguist so if you like Cabej, you'll like him as well. |

Greek ethnic minority numbers are reduced by new census of Albania in 2009, when the Albanian population is fourfold since first census of 1929.
Unfortunately there are no reliable statistics on the actual size of the minority, since no official census with ethnic criteria has been conducted to date, although this is one of the commitments to the European Union.
According to data presented at the 1919 Paris Conference, the ethnic Greek minority numbered 120.000. The last census under the Communist regime in 1989 cites only 60.000, although the total population of Albania had fourfold in the meantime. Both 2001 and 2009 census did not cover the ethnic Greek minority as there was no question on ethnic origin.
According to CIA estimates in 1989, the Greek ethnic minority of Albania numbered 280.000 inhabitants in a total Albanian population of 3.100.000 . Which we believe, Albania, Greece or CIA sources?
But noting the increase of the Albanian population in four times to 4.2 milion, also the population of the Greek minority is raised fourfold in the 480.000 inhabitants!
