2 brothers ,parents ,close cousins ,close friends that haven't seen each other in 20 years will kiss on mouth and even eyes ...
oh how many times in the 1970's-1980's I was embarrassed at the airports of my relatives and this practice in the USA .....
but then again I smacked kissed in the mouth a cousin (and friend, bcs all your cousins are not your friends) a few weeks ago at a wedding ...I haven't seen him in 21 years ....my kids started looking freaked out
....again I have become my father and you will too ...like it or not ;D

Not always the father and the son are the same. Sometimes father is good and the son is bad or father is bad and the son is good. Ne shqiptaret i themi nganjehere nga trandafili del gjem dhe nga gjemi del trandafil .

No kissing of males on the mouth.... just a kiss on each side of the cheek.... thats how 98% of the Greeks do it.

Not even a kiss on the cheeks is how we Albanians from Kosova do it, so all these kissing traditions among my fellow compatriots is really a new thing for me, lol. First I thought this non-kissing thing must be some Islamic tradition, since all the Christians kiss each other in the Balkans (dont know about the Catholics though, but then thracian says it's also common place among Turks too ...
Off topic; do you guys (outside Kosova) have a thing called mesele, for which I can only find one translation, i.e. anecdotes ? It's a cool thing if you get the hang of it ... basically through anecdotes and metaphors, a villager could be making fun of you and undermining your authority right under your nose without you knowing it ... and you sit there and laugh like a moron. Not even people from cities like Prishtine or Prizren know this style which seems to be present only among villagers, and even among them, only the gifted ones trully master it ... meaning that those who learn to interpret themdo not necessarely know how to use the style. Or as one famous Muje Loshi said to somebody who asked him if he could learn more mesele than Muja, to which he answered; "po, krejt mundesh m'i msue, ama duhesh me dit edhe vendin ku m'i qit ... "

mesele translates for me into "a situation "
I know exactly what you mean ...its an art form especially in villages
the kids can run endless circles around adult Albanians that come for visits from their diaspora ....3 days later they realize they have been played on .
