true. Although I don't think Romanians are Balkan people. We are Central European one. No I feel we are Balkan people. And I say that with pride and dignity (which is quite rare for me as I am humble). I don't see myself as central/ western European, and the Balkans is where I belong. Sorry man, but I am not Transylvanian! But yes you are right in the fact that Romanian avoided "Balkanisation", and it is mainly a united political unit. Actually I get along excellent them, provided that stupid historic disputes are avoided. That reads "anyone who does not agree with my version of history" doesn't it Ruse?

There is only Romanian and Italian (!) that use the Roma radical. Us, Romanians peasants, called ourselves 'rumâni" untill the middle of XIXth century. In English, coexist the two forms.

In Serbia Romania is Rumunija. Romanija on the other hand is a mountain and area in Republika Srpska. Wellfrom Vulgar Latin to Romanian you had the transformation from o to u in quite a lot of cases. For example: Montenegro becomes Muntenegru (i.e. Black mountain) Rio becomes Riu (river) musoe becomes muzeu (museum) Roman became Ruman (hence the many nations spelling of Romania as Rumania). But this was reversed by Ceausescu in the 70s or 80s I believe.

Radovic where is that region Romanija? can you point me a map please? This map is the one that appears on the Serbian wikipedia: . although it is specifically referring to an administrative division of Republika Srpska called Sarajevo-Romanije/Sokolac region.

"But this was reversed by Ceausescu in the 70s or 80s I believe." No, it wasn't Ceausescu! It was us, about two centuries ago, if I remember well!...

and thouse countries (except Germany and Austria) are also considered eastern european. Unfortunately some people, even Hungarians, still refer to Hungary as "Eastern European", although we are "Central European". True, compared to Britain, France, Italy etc. we are in the East, but we are still in Central Europe.

Romanians are good people, l've never had a problem with them. I even have an Uncle who is Romanian/Serbian origin. Most Serbs in Northern Bosnia and Krajina are themselves of Vlach origin.

Romanians are good people, l've never had a problem with them. I've never had a problem with my Romanian neighbours or other Romanians I know... except for one girl at primary school, but she doesn't count. So several friends of mine & I came to the conclusion that "hatred" between nations is only caused by politicians to strengthen their positions, otherwise we do have a good relationship.
