The percentages of "others" in Vojvodina are something like this,
Croats = 2.78% Montes = 1.78% Romanians=1.50% Roma =1.43% Albanians 0.8%
So clearly there is no chance whatsoever of a independence push. Stataticians etc are predicting that going by the trend, by 2050 there will actualy be a decrease of Hungarians to 100 thousand.
So by 2020 the Serbs will replace the Hungarians as the largest ethnic groups in the Becej municipality and by 2030 Serbs will replace the Hungarians in Subotica, Backa topola, and Coka.
They are predicting that the only Hungarian majority by 2050 will be in Kanjiza senta and Ada municipalitys.
So you do not have to be a proffesor to realize that Independence is a imposibility.

BTW, I recognize the field in your avatar. Oh, really? Where is it then? It's three kilometers north-east from the center of town, on the road to Markovac, and looking towards Plandiste. ;D

Re: Will Vojvodina be the next to go?
If the majority of Serbs believe and see their demands aren't being met by the wasteful belgrade govt, they will secede too. People from Novi Sad are pissed they can't get visas to visit America now because of violent stupid hooligans in belgrade and their leader puts the blame of belgrade riots squarely onkostunica. Watch them leave too in a couple of years or less.

Would Novi Sad be the capital of the independent Republic of Vojvodina?

The situation in Vojvodina is different from Kosovo. Vojvodina, first of all, is overwhelmingly Serbian. The Hungarians make up just about 15 percent of the population. The other former Hapsburg minorities, if we can use that term -- Croats, Slovaks, Czechs, Ruthenes, Ukrainians -- are still altogether just about 25 percent. I think the issue in Vojvodina has not been independence calls from any serious politicians there, but simply demands for more democracy, more rule of law, and more minority rights. I don't think we can speak of secession.

which is made up of mostly serbian refugees from Republika Sprska bringing the radical ideas with them. Why dont they go back to the autonomous Serbian state in bosnia then? according to that website. www.nasdaq.com/aspxcontent/NewsStory.aspx?cpath=20080221%5cACQDJON200802210739DOWJONESDJONLINE000545.htm&theres around 350,000 Hungarians in vojvodina which is 60,000 times more than just 290,000. so seriously who's telling the truth Vinjak? i cant say that Serbs are lying and i cant say that the website are lying either, so really one of them have to tell the truth. and like what Terroreign said Hungarians are restless in Vojvodina including my family in Zenta, so obviously Hungarians are in big numbers, correct me if im wrong but thats what i think. Before to write anything else i been there 5 times already and seen enough, expecially in Zenta, Hungarians are flooding over there. And yes Terroreign, because Kosova succeed from Serbia, Vojvodina should also, im not saying it should return to Hungary but rather be independent like before in 1919-1920 when they joined into Yugoslavia like Kosova.

I wonder what would happen if u were to offer these 'majority serbs' in Vojvodina a better quality of life than in the rest of serbia? Better pay, more jobs, economic prosperity, viza free travel ? Who then wouldnt be thinking of sucession. ??

Because Kosovo is trying to break away, so should Vojvodina. Your logic is bizzare, ill thought out and frankly your just a racist. Typical of your ilk. I suggest you stay out of Sydney Rd for a while and stay off those dodgy kebabs as they can rot your brain.

This is really funny, Vojvodina is the birthplace of modern serbian nationalism. Vojvodina Serbs: Miloš Crnjanski, Dositej Obradović, Svetozar Miletić, Mihajlo Pupin, Jovan Jovanović Zmaj...
And I urge Albanians here not to look stupid, every library in Serbia is older than their mother state Albania. You guys desperately need to improve your country, not trying to destroy someone else's. Just a friendly advice.

This is really funny, Vojvodina is the birthplace..bla, bla, bla So was Kosovo and Montenegro. Still is. I know you don't understand, maybe you would if you knew what "having a state, nation and dignity" means. I guess you're a bosnian Muslim. I understand you then. Sorry, but you have no sense of nationhood, only of anti-nationhood, I am sure you know what I mean.

So was Kosovo and Montenegro. Still is. I know you don't understand This is not about me, it is about the fact that you guys have no contact with reality: if you go back to the old Illyria-forums and look at the posts from 2006 you will notice that most serbs claimed the exactly same BS about Montenegro just before Montenegro became independent. Less then 2 weeks ago you where saying the same BS about Kosovos independence. What is it going to take for you to weak up?? Must the world proclaim the independence of the "Democratic republic of Belgrade" in order for you guys to get real?
