The very first Balkanians were the ones who made paintings in the caves of the animals they used to hunt. Can you prove they were Albanians?

True Balkanians are people born in the Balkans.

Romania is not in the Balkans. And I doubt it would work out. And I doubt even more that the Arabs would want to take over the Balkans.

I see most of the votes got (equally) with Turkey and without Turkey. Whats in people heads when they think Turkey can be a valid member ?

In my opinion, BU would be another way of "producing more history than they we can consume" and in the end Winston Churchill would say, as in 1915: "The Balkans must be left to stew in their own bitter juice." It's funny, but only the ottomans had created some kind of a BU!... In other words: it's a union that could be imposed only by force.

Current ethnicities werent living in the balkans when the first 3 were created. Ottomans "united" by force. But i wouldnt call any of them some kind of balkan union.

As much as id love to see a united Balkan union, i know it wont ever work out, look at the current situations just in BIH, i doubt we are gone get any kind of union, at least for now, and the only way BIH would ever join this union would be if turkey was in the union, so the muslims wouldnt have to fear the union to turn a christian empire. :} Only true balkan nations are Slovenia, Croatia, BIH, Serbia,Crna Gora, Macedonia,Albania, Greece and Turkey, thats it, we wouldnt need no more nations to join us.

Slovenia is far from being truly Balkan. And why isn't Bulgaria on the list?

The nations that would benefit from such a union are the nations that are currently doing badly economically. Therefore, im not surprised that the muslims of Bosnia, serbs and others are in favor of such a project.

Most of our countries have trouble internally let alone external... as Vinyak said, loose economic union would be good... anything else is pointless since a union that doesnt trust itself can never last long... Other entities, such as Russia and America, would easily pierce and throw their influence within it and thus destroy it...
I deem this to be a dumb idea...

my bad i forgot to add bulgaria to the list i completely forgot them, but Slovenia is and does belongs to the Balkans so it should be involved in the union, and they are very good economically...
And to add on to CiKoLa gay little comment of saying Muslim and Serbs would only benefit from the union, just so u no there are Bosnian Catholic don't forget them they would benefit to u no, they are Bosnian too, Just so u no Croatia isn't the richest in the Balkans, so would croatia, be benefiting from Slovenia, Greece and turkey. and by the way the only reason we in BIH are not doing so bad is because of dip shits like u, who are nationalist and wont leave fucking BIH alone,to rebuild our government and economy.

Cikola doesn't know what bs to spew, as this topic has showed most Bosniaks are against such an union.
And it's not exclusively muslim, although the 90s Tudjman and Milosevic policies have definitely sped up the process of her becoming more and more Bosniak.

The first who spoke about Balkan Union was Rigas Fereos in 1821. Austrians arrested him and surunder him in Ottoman authorities. He died the next day... Its not a bad idea. At least that would be something strong with population and good strategical position in the map. The problem is the lack of dignity in many nations of Balkans. People without values are easy to be exploit by anyone who wants to separate that new super-country. So... as you understand I cannot trust my future to people that will take some dollars and some promises from Americans and the next day a civil war will start in that Union. It needs a lot of education and value system..... and I dont believe that the generation of Hotza or Gruevski has these characteristiks. We may need to wait some 50-60 years for EU to do the hard job to educate the people in Balkans.. and then it will be a good idea. PS. No chance Turkey to be inside that Balkan Union. The last thing I want to see is my borders next to Kurdistan, Aphganistan and Iraq. Forget it!

A Balkan union sounds fine to me as long as it doesnt include BiH
