Theirs still some presence of this. Particularly in north iran. Where you can find people with European features. Given Arab conquest, Mongol conquest, migrations from the India and large migrations from Iran to Central Asia [where in some areas populations have European features] and into Europe is quite possible modern Iranians differ greatly from ancient PErsians. ^ Below is a picture published of*girl in northern Iran in 1971 (source: www.ghandchi.com/iranscope/Anthology/KavehFarrokh/300/index.htm) <-- I fidn the funnies thing the part about a black actor portraying Iranian in a Hollywood propaganda film. Persia does not equal Iran. Persia is simple a small part of southeastern Iran that formed the cultural and ruling elite of the entire country. In fact, the initial Persian rule was a mixed rule between Persian and Medes (another Iranian people). Calling all Iran Persian is like calling all Italy "Latin" Don't you Albanians call yourselves Illyrians?

The title of the thread is misleading.
Are Croats/Serbs [of] Iranian ancestry?
I assume the author intends to mean today's or modern Croats and Serbs. Then my answer would be probably not.
So far there is only vague evidence suggesting that the Croat name might be Persian in origin. This in itself raises some interesting questions but it is a completely separate question from whether people in Croatia/Serbia today are of Iranian ancestry and there is no evidence for or against.
I also find it rather absurd that some would compare modern Iranians to ancient Persians and simply look at their exterior physical features to distinguish traits. Many Iranians today have physically darker characteristics and resemble Indians and their Arab neighbors in appearance more so than white Europeans.
However, that doesn't say anything of the ancient Persians which seem to have been much lighter in appearance.

Today's Iranian's, the majority of them, are rarely the Aryan People's they were 3000 years ago (At least Genetically). Croats are a far distance away from the Ancient Aryan (Iranian/Iranic) Tribes, and even if we did originate from the Greater Persia, it is safe to say that today, we are more a mix of indigenous balkanite and slavic.

This is ridiculous lol. If Croats are of Iranian stock, then so are Swedes, Norwegians, Sardinians, and Bosniaks.. Your youtube videos can say all they want, and call me crazy, but I'd rather take the word of people who actually researched and studied this (academics) rather than you and your stupid vids arsenije.

It should be obvious but some people don't seem to get that. And the same thing can be said about Serbs.

Ancient DNA of 13 Sarmatian remains from Pokrovka and Meirmagul kurgans was extracted for comparative analysis. Most of the genetic traits determined were of western Eurasian origin, while only a few were of central/east Asian origin. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Could these be Serbs (Serboi) & Croats (Horouatos) of similar Sarmatian origin as Pokrovkas & Meirmaguls? I heard on news that Ahmadinejad would have never won these last elections and a lot of human lives would have been saved if it wasn't for the votes of the Iranian diaspora in Croatia and BiH. Index.hr also writes how the real reason Sanader resigned was a move by Khamenei to remove the most nationalist and hardcore people in the government to win the hearts of the opposition. We still have to see if it will work.

It is undeniable that the ancestors of the modern Croats were Persian, besides ancient texts citing them around the area of Iran, and their language, as well as being cited in the Bible as "Horrites" the Horvats were a nomadic warrior people who played a crucial part in the Persian Empire and who's origin starts in western Afghanistan (an entire province was named after them there).
Besides these historical truths, the Croats preserved much of their ancient culture, their coat of arms is iranic, as well as the symbols above the checker board. The common Croat greeting "Bok" or "Bog" can have iranic origins, or can be simply a slavizisation of Iranian customs, where one would claim a god's name when greeting someone.
Besides this, many national costumes and traditions show obvious Iranic origin.

Yes the Croats should go back to where they came from and leave the Balkans to its natives. lol it feels retarded saying that. Now I know what it's like being an Albanian.

^ That doesn't make sense since everyone is mixed almost equally in the balkans.
Culturally though we're all pretty distinct.
