No one is trying to Turkify the population - ask Turks from Greece, they want their rights as an ethnic minority, not as a Muslim minority, and they are not speaking on behalf of other minority groups either. My grandfather went to Gumulcine to teach @ Turkish schools in the 1960s. He was so shocked,do you know why? Ppl were dressed in Ottoman outfits, could only read and write in Ottoman Turkish, b/c at that time, they weren't allowed to learn the Turkish spoken in Turkey. They were left extremly backwards on purpose so that they could not move up. Yes, the Muslims in Thrace are Turkish. Well, most Turks from Greece also went to present day Turkey too. Selanik was 1/3 Turkish 1/3 Greek and 1/3 Jewish city for example in 1920s. My point is that Greece is part of the EU, and they are supposed to give each ethnic groups their own rights - not lumping everyone together - which is not done. check out this video in thrace - the gov't their also tried to get rid of Turks there: your grandfather went to Komotini to teach turkish in the turkish schools... ok...that what i was talking about. they have/had all the rights. You say :"Yes, the Muslims in Thrace are Turkish".... and thats exactly the propaganda promoted by the turkish side. While your grandfather was teaching turkish in Thrace even to Pomak and Gypsy mehmets... the over 150.000 strong minority of Polis, Imvros and Tenedos was almost VANISHED, EXTERMINATED, AND CLEANSED. The Turkish PMs in the Greek parliament clearly say that they're Turks(because they are, and not Pomaks or Gypsies) and none has problem with that and of course neither their parties(New Democracy and Pasok). Hey osmanlis, you can't talk about minority issues especially about the minorities that the above convention is talking about. The minority in Greece is extremely lucky that is in Greece and enjoys all the privilleges a minority should have, and maybe even more...

Greeks have the spare time and money to protest. Most Albanians are still worrying about basic survival. we were always protesting...even under the nazi occupation... in the same spot btw : "Urban protest One of the most important forms of resistance were the mass protest movements. The first such event occurred during the national anniversary of 25 March 1942, when students attempted to lay a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier. This resulted in clashes with mounted Carabinieri, and marked the awakening of the spirit of Resistance amongst the wider urban population. Soon after, from 12–14 April, the "TTT" (Telecommunications & Postal) workers began a strike in Athens, which spread throughout the country. Initially, the strikers' demands were financial, but it quickly assumed a political aspect, as the strike was encouraged by EAM's labour union organization, EEAM. Finally, the strike ended on April 21, with the full capitulation of the collaborationist government to the strikers' demands, including the immediate release of arrested strike leaders.[10] In early 1943, rumours spread of a planned mobilization of the labour force by the occupation authorities, with the intent of sending them to work in Germany. The first reactions began amongst students on 7 February, but soon grew in scope and volume. Throughout February, successive strikes and demonstrations paralyzed Athens, culminating in a massive rally on the 24th. The tense climate was amply displayed at the funeral of Greece's national poet, Kostis Palamas, on 28 February, which turned into an anti-Axis demonstration.[11]"en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greek_ResistanceToski...if you don't protest when you worry about your basic survival and you basic rights and demands when do you protest? when you are rich and have solved all your issues? Greeks tend to protest and react... Politicians don't understand other messages except the vibration of an angry and dissapointed people on the streets... One vote every 4 years is ok only on papers.

It has nothing to do with Turkification. The Greek gov't classifies it as Muslim rights - lumping all the different Muslim ethnic groups in Greece together, without giving each ethnic group their own individual rights. Ethnic identity Since the Treaty of Lausanne used the criterion of religion to refer to the ethnic communities, Greek Government spokesmen have usually insisted that the basis of identification is religious and not ethnic (or national). Thus Greek officials refer to the Muslim minority in Greece, but deny the existence of a Turkish minority. Greek courts have also outlawed the use of the word 'Turkish' to describe the Turkish community. In 1988, the Greek High Court affirmed a 1986 decision of the Court of Appeals of Thrace in which the Union of Turkish Associations of Western Thrace was ordered closed. The court held that the use of the word 'Turkish' referred to citizens of Turkey, and could not be used to describe citizens of Greece; the use of the word 'Turkish' to describe Greek Muslims was held to endanger public order. This led to about 10,000 people demonstrating against the decision in Western Thrace. According to members of the Turkish minority, it was the first time ethnic Turks had taken to the streets. In contract, in Turkey Greeks, and others all minorities under the treaty of Lausanne go to Greek schools, and have their own identity. They are not called Christian Turks. They have their own authority in their churches. They go to schools in turkish language...not in ...muslim language schools... And you MUST NOT talk about the Greek minority in Turkey because it was vanished by all means since the treaty of Laussane, even if Greece respected our muslim one...since they are still here................... None denies to the minority MP's in the Greek Parliament to declare themselves Turks, and they do it in any chance. Nobody denies it to them, as long as they don't try to turkify the rest of the muslim minority. And the Muslims in Thrace aren't Muslim Greeks. They are Muslim Turks, Gypsies and Pomaks. And if some of them have muslim ethnic greek heritage i don't care. since they cut their dick during the Ottoman yoke they are not equally accepted as Greeks.

I doubt those 750,000 Roma consider themselves Bulgarians, they consider themselves "Turks" since majority of them are muslims in Bulgaria and speaks Turkish. turkogypsy is the worst combination that nature can handle...

We open many franchise shops in Crete and Mani long time ago....Cretans buy them just for their bayonets to use them as daggers....... ;D Cretans and Maniates are nice guys...just like to play with unusual things... I propose these two options for the new albanian parliament building, in the concept of the above...: what do you think?

The map that I posted is a direct scanned copy from the book. The map you've posted is the same map and someone using Photoshop over it. I don't understand what the issue is, the map illustrates the areas that were surveyed. The map also illustrates the conclusions that have been reached by more than 90-95% of independent scholars/researchers. Anyway, I know it takes a little more effort to actually read rather than to look at pretty pictures.. so why don't you just read the book, or at least what I've posted here. It should clarify things for you. Oh, and don't forget to read what's written under the map it self. I photoshoped it... to show which part of Macedonia they...missed to include... the most macedonian part of Macedonia, and which ...by chance was totally inhabited by Greeks. And a painted map by it self can't say all things. Because the urban population which was in most times Greek and very populous, like in Thessaloniki, Kastoria, Veroia, Serres, Drama, Zichni, Gida(Alexandria), Vogatsiko etc etc and they only represent a little point in the map even if each of their population was more than 30 sparse slavic villages together... PS. And wtf makes people to include in the same map/area places like Polygyros(of Chalkidiki) for example and Skopja and Gostivar ....wtf?
